BMW Genuine Screenwash

The old screen wash light has just come on. Where is the cheapest place to buy this and how much does the tank hold on an E92?

BMW direct on ebay have 5l for 17+2 postage.

OK seems eBay then. I'm not that bothered about using the BMW stuff for the sake of 20.

BMW Direct for the 5L was where I bought mine. If only using in one car the 5L will last a long time especially at this time of year as doesn't need to be very strong.

If you have an E92 or optional xenon lights, there is a bit of a flaw in the headlamp wash. If the water freezes, it tends to push the washers out a bit with the result that when you later use them, they fall out in the road and are lost for ever.

BMW have been quite good about it under warranty but although it is a design flaw, it wouldn't happen if you had anti-freeze screenwash in your car.

The BMW stuff is quite good, not a bad price and if you fill the bottle completely, it is good for -63C. Half full, and it is good for -21C. So, an adequate mix in the winter months will ensure this does not happen to you - also, together with the heated washer jets, it ensures on those freezing but dry and dirty days, that you can still wash your windscreen.

And should the washers still misbehave, BMW can't complain that you don't use an approved screenwash.

In summer, don't bother with BMW screenwash if you don't want to, but I do urge you to use it in winter - if you have xenons.

Yep I have xenons, hence using BMW screen wash. I don't use a lot of the stuff anyway so spending 20 for the sake of hundreds is no problem for me.

What do you mix it with? Some Asda grade Evian? Wouldn't really like to put tap water I have here in considering what it does to everything else it touches!

A one litre bottle sees me over the winter time for about 6. (I've even been given a 500ml bottle for free from my dealer!).

No problems with quality of water up here so tap water does fine for me.

Likewise. I bought a 5L container from BMW direct and it's done nearly 2 years. I use it at 1:1 over the really cold part of winter, 3:1 while there's any risk of freezing and about 5:1 or 6:1 during the summer, because plain water just doesn't shift the insects very well.

It didn't work out much more expensive than any other product, it smells nice, and most importantly doesn't smear, even at 1:1

Ok ordered. I know plenty of people who will be happy to take some off my hands too when theirs is running low!
