Changing my 2011 335i for c63amg

So, my mid life crisis means I'm hankering after a V8. Other than an M3 I lean toward a merc C63 AMG.

Anyone with experience of these ?
I lean away from the M3 as it is too similar to the 335 in some ways.

I'd be looking at a 2012 , say $140k with very low Km's.

Any others worth exploring ?

Audi RS4/5 could be a good option also.

Get a C63 you won't be disappointed with anything about it. Try and get one with Performance Kit and LSD if you can.

Close to my recent experience. I had an M3 and a C63 as the only two cars I was looking at -but honestly coming from a convertible I really was only a buyer of the M3 convertible and looking at a C63 for giggles.

The noise alone of the C63 is enough reason to buy one, the gearbox sux if you are coming from a proper manual. In the end not a convertible available, but fun to consider.

Funnily enough I bought a 335i convertible instead of an M3. I had the BMW PPK kit installed as part of the deal. I had never considered the 335i and was genuinely suprised by how quick it was, and given that it is a daily driver I decided I didnt need an M3 really.

However, I still regret just a little bit not buying either of the greatest v8 soundtracks the world has heard!

PS dont consider the Audi, its dated and uninspiring.

Have you driven an M3 to compare to the 335i? Try that before you decide to go with the C63. I wouldn't consider an Audi. Also drive an R35, if you're performance minded that's the no-brainer. Absolutely chews everything else in that regard.

Since youve got both and you chime in on whats your view on both for someone that could potentially get them but either one and not both? pro's and con's?

You would be stupid not get a C63 AMG. Just be ready to have a box of tissues to wipe away the wetness you'll have in your pants each time you launch the car. On another note, if you are not a badge snob its probably worth checking out the new HSV GTS with monster figures and great tech for the price.

I had a VE SS, before my 335i, and in my experience both Holden and Ford are about 5 years behind in terms of interior alone... which surprisingly is where you spend most of your time. An example of this would be the 'sports' seats designed for a 150kg individual, so that mere mortals have about half a foot either side to the bolsters...

So if you're in the market for a C63 don't even kid yourself looking at Australian cars.

The exhaust note you can get out of an M3 and an RS4 are both sensational.. C63 is on another level though!

Not that I'm an expert, but this is my brief summary:

M3:
Better handling than C63.
Better looking exterior (subjective).
2 doors.
Feels more like a sports car when compared to the C63.
Dem downshifts.
If you supercharge, game over.

C63:
Best interior (subjective, but I think most people will agree)
Most come in old man 4 door spec (but hey, if you have a family, you have a family lol).
Best exhaust note.

R35 GTR:
Best performance car, handling, speed etc. Feels good that you will pretty much always beat everything.
Average interior (still a Nissan at the end of the day).
Looks are love/hate, personally I love them and they get 10x more looks than an m3.
Excellent mod potential, if you're greedy and want it to be faster.

Thanks for the replies all. I have driven a friends M3, he bought it the same time as i got mine, the general feeling was that it wasn't worth roughly 90,000 more than mine.

The appeal with a c63 is that it is different, even tho I am a long time BMW fan having had 3 Bm's in my last 4 cars. The other an Audi, but just the a4.

I will track down a c63 in NSW for a test drive, see how I feel. It seems a lot of car, 140 k for a 2012.

I appreciate the input from you fine people, thanks.

I just loved the c63 when they came out. Now they are a bit drug dealer / rich bogan / hero car.
Can't believe they don't all have LSD...

Go for it, the perfect semi mid life crisis car, or I am not having a mid life crisis, I just need a v8. I hear you man

Tough choice between those cars, but I can't believe the money you guys have to pay for those cars.

Just to throw another car into the equation, what about the Lexus ISF?

Interestingly pricing research says I an get a 2012 M3 for 130k drive away, c63 more expensive. I'm actually tempted by the m3 again, may wait a few months until the new one comes out as it is bound to mean a drop in the M3 pricing, and c63 will also drop a little too. Trying to limit spend to 130k. Both seem a fabulous cars.

What kind of C63 are you looking for? I've got a 2011 (my12) facelift C63 sedan w/ performance kit, LSD, c/f trim (and electric rear blind) that I might be interested in shifting..

Personally, I would prefer a C63, luxurious, well presented interior and exterior, and a four doors one is better than a coupe for mercedes Benz.
