Most of you probably seen this already.

I was wondering.. would this be the new m6 opponent? Which BMW fits best to beat this audi bastard?

I personally have a huge preference for BMW.. but this RS5 looks pretty awesome to me.

I know i can beat 2013 S5 with my FBO 335.. but this RS5 is just another level aint it ?

Approximately M3 performance numbers. A bit better off the line, about the same through the quarter.

the rs5 is an m3 competitor.

I saw a comparison, I think on top gear, in which the m3 beats the rs5 around a track in the rain.

Audi is making some gorgeous cars these days. Better than BMW in my opinion. If only they weren't so expensive.

Yeah BMW is definitely going in the wrong direction these days.

I always thought that Audis looked kind of dumpy compared to a comparable BMW... sadly BMWs have gotten less attractive over the years and the S5 is a freakin' gorgeous car. I have to admit to feeling slightly jealous when sitting at a stoplight next to one even though I drive "the last of the good looking BMWs" e.g. E92... I'm still not nuts about the big grille that seems to be part of the new Audi design language but the car as a whole is stunning.

The first time I saw one it was from the rear 3/4 - I really thought it was some kind of new BMW, it looked that good.

If only Audi had BMW weight distribution... I'd be tempted.

Well I switched from BMW to Audi and I am very happy with the decision. I tested the S5 and I thought it was very close to my 335i in performance. I thought the S5 handled a little better and the interior was more to my taste.

As for the RS5, it is definitely in the same category of an M3. In Audi lingo the RS stands for Rouche Sport (or something like that), basically translated as Race Sport. They are the closest street car derivatives of the racing division of Audi. Everything in the RS is tuned and tweaked for performance, very much like "M" is for BMW.

One of the things I like most about Audi is that most of their vehicles are Supercharged or Turboed, thus making modding pretty easy.

Audi interiors are awesome. The S5 interior in black/red stitching and aluminum? Wow.

I think Audi (especially the rs5) have BMW beat by miles in exterior and interior looks. They are just pure beautiful. However I think we bmws win in driving experience...

Glad to hear M3 can compete
But i wonder..

Doesnt an fbo 335 beat an M3 straight line?

I pass S5's .. but not by that much.. wouldn't an RS5 walk right off ?

Anyway.. BMW will always be the best in the bottom of my heart

That grille is uuuugly!! I'd much rather an M3 than that; regardless of the interior appointments...

These are supposed to be performance cars. If I wanted comfort and style, I'd drive a Cadillac.

Why not have both. Seriously, BMW is no chump when it comes to interiors. I think the Audi is amazing, but I never had an issue with my 335i interior.

Grille...style is in the eye of the beholder. To each his own.

The RS5 in the article is the European 2010 model. The U.S. model has 36 more hp and a lighter engine. Track laps.com says the RS5 is "noticeably faster." However, if you look at the various times, it only bests the M3 by a tenth of a second.

Also, Tracklaps states that the M3 is almost a second faster 0-60 than the 335i. Straight line or otherwise, a stock M3 vs stock 335i, the M3 is much faster.

RS5 is a beautiful car, I'd have to get used to that grill though. Funny thing is I actually found myself dabbling on AudiUSA last week. The. S5 and RS5 are awesome.

It's unfortunate is seems BMW is appealing to the masses more than the enthusiasts with the F30's. But that's where the money's made. I really hope the 435/M4 makes some serious waves or I may be looking Audi come 2015. Heck I may even go 2013 CPO M3.

RS5 is a great car. A friend just picked one up. Typical V8 Audi, it understeers but the interior is incredible. You would need a lot more power and handling to keep up with it stock. But fortunately for you, this one looks like its suspension geometry has been ruined with gimmicky air bladders. So just take him in the twisties. His 20" wheels with virtually no sidewall will be very harsh and likely not grip very well on significant bumps. The lack of the OE Audi engineered RS suspension or any real suspension alternative will keep him from being able to push the car hard in the twisties without worrying about understeering over a cliff. That V8 is big and needs a real suspension to keep its weight and power under control.
