Is this water pump?

Came home on Friday from work and everything was fine, 1 hour later I went to get some food then all of a sudden I got the yellow overheat warning follow by a red overheat warning seconds later. The oil temp was under normal level but the car went into limp mode anyway and coolant was spewing out where the reservoir was

Yesterday I top off the coolant but when I turn on the car again on cold start, the engine fan was spinning at high speed. Reading all the water pump threads I assume that it's most likely the water pump but I want to make sure before ordering the parts.

BTW my car is 2007 E92 335 with only 46,600 Km

Very much sounds like it; essentially the same thing happened to mine.

Ughh. Stuff like this makes me nervous about taking the car on long road trips.

exact same thing just happened to me and indeed it was the waterpump. $480 from Turner Motorsports and $300 labor charges (friend who is a BMW tech) later and i'm good to go.

My water pump lasted to almost 170,000 miles and never did my car over heat when they said it was bad? So I couldn't tell you I still don't think mine was bad! Also replaced a thermostat at same time. From my experience once one goes the other does then just had to do a coolant tempture about 10,000 miles after the other to.
