Bristol Garage Recommendation?

Hi Guys,

Any recommendations for a garage in the Bristol area? (please don't say wheelbase...)
I'd consider further afield if required!

Thanks

Hugh

Would you consider London?

Probably a bit too far. Was thinking more within the Swindon / Cheltenham radius.
Looking for a localish garage that I can get my servicing and repairs done at.

I have been going to Forza West in Chepstow for the last while, Stuart is still top notch but I think the service has suffered a bit as they grown...

What are you looking to get done?

Wheelbase - no.

Heard of Clayton or Redish motosport?

Bit of a mixed bag!
My mapped 335d is in need of some love. Oil service is due in around a 1000 miles, and I want to get some things that have been bothering me sorted:

1, vibration under braking (might be warped discs, hoping they just need to be 're-sat' so they are flush as the discs havent been driven that hard, heard it might also be due to worn bushings)
2, check small turbo hoses, I think I have been getting lag from the small turbo, might be a boost leak??
3, reset or update software on the gearbox (Stuart in Forza West said he thinks its the gearbox software thats stopping the torque from being unleashed)
4, check for oil leak. I had an issue a few months back where excessive pressure in the crank housing popped an oil seal out of place (something had to give...). I got it fixed but have a sneaky feeling it might have re-occured...

So all in all quite a list. No major work there but as always would prefer to to give it to someone who knew what they were doing as I would consider a 335d as still a bit niche!

I have heard of Claytons, has anyone had any dealings with them?

Never heard of Redish Motorsport, are they good and willing to look at 'meat and two veg' issues like mine??

Used Clayton cars a few times when I had my 330d, always happy with quality of their work and knowledge of BMW.
Haven't been there for a few year but wouldn't hesitate to go back

This is an interesting one.......
What symptoms have you got?
Lack of torque obviously but to what extent?

Its like an initial hesitation when you first push the accelerator.
Car still goes like stink when its wound up, but power delivery doesn't feel as immediate.
This is what has me wondering if its hoses or something like that on the small turbo, as I would imagine this is more attributable to the inital boost loss?

Guy at Forza West in Chewstow took it for a run before with a diagnostic plugged in and he thought he could see minor error codes coming up from the gearbox at initial acceleration that might explain the lag in the small turbo. Maybe the map and the gearbox software arent getting along.

So all in all I'm hoping a gearbox reset and a small turbo health check will sort it!

I'd say the best bmw specialist in Bristol has to be Redish Motorsport.

I used to go to http://www.forzawest.com/ Just over the bridge in wales when I had my 525D. I was very impressed. Thye guy is an ex BMW mechanic and knows his stuff. Has all the proper kit ansd a very clean tidy garage!

Seriously recommend it!

I'm no expert but I think that's probably the case.

Maybe not when the map was first done, but I'm almost certain the gearbox software has been reset / updated since.

I thought that the gearbox software is coded to adapt to new situations.. within reason of course.

Have been to wheelbase to read error code, but won't go back.
Redish seem friendly, honest and good.
Had my battery fitted/coded at Clayton.

clayton / Redish seem good.

All my other services have been done at Dick Lovett main dealer. Not that much more than indy and great service so far - touch wood!
