e92 vs 93

Just wondering anyone know if the rear sweat space on e93 is different size to E92.

Looking at a viable option of 330i as next car and tried E92 with kids in the back and its fine however E93 is the ideal choice.

Just not sure if the rear space is the same due to the roof system

I think the e93 is slightly tighter and not as deep as all of the roof mechanism is in the boot rather than on the 3/4's.

I can put a tape measure accross mine later when I'm driving about in the sun later if you like

Thanks that would be great. Joy of trying to get two kids in the back and not have a saloon

Not worried about the boot as it will be second car have the Bclass for the stuff heavy trips. I think it might call for a trip to the dealer to test fit the car seats

How old are your kids? Mine is 10 and he gets in and fits fine! Adults struggle though and room is very tight for them. If yr kids are young the the e93 works fine!

Your not going to be able to check this as there is very little rain at the moment but they do suffer from leaks. I have friends and relatives who have e93s and they tend to leak into the boot side compartments and also were the Battery is. Not an issue in the summer but something to be aware of.

still in car seat age 1 and 4.

I've read about the leaks as friend had a e93 few years back and its generally down to the cleaning of the seals and drain channels seen a few posts on here.

As long as I can get the seats in there is space for legs we are good. Its down to e92/3 or CLA and with the CLA seats not agreeing with me its not many cars to choose from.

Considered also a A5 cabrio but dont want a cloth roof

the E93 has a rider track to componsate for the roof. i dont think you would be losing that much space inside.

and i see a photo yesterday of a M3 E93 with two kid seats in the back one forward facing one rear facing.

Found it ...
Hope the OP of this dont mind me using it.

You're in a bit of a different situation to me then as you need access to get to the back to strap your kids in...its not that bad especially if the car is only going to be for the weekend. Space wise for that age of kids is not an issue even with the car seats.

No issues with leaks bit I do get the odd drip if I'm not careful with the pressure washer

I'm 6'3 so there is never any room in the back behind me whatver car I've had so far. I've had no complaints from the people that I have had in the back on the passender side though.

It's good that the rear windows drop so you can reach over the bodywork whereas the e92 has fixed windows.

I've not had any issues with leaks so far but I've not had the car long. Typically it did rain for 3 weeks solid when I bought it though and the car remained dry inside.

I've not measured my car but I have found these images showing the size difference between the two cars e92 on the top

It's a difference of 83mm between the two so not a lot.

thats a strange one because the E93 is wider at the rear.

i remember seeing it on a BM website when buying mine

which also explains the longer rear lights

Space at the back is fine on an E93, I've had adults in the back of mine fine for up to an hour with no real issues so small kids will be fine. Having the roof down also means it's even easier to reach the kids\seats at the back. However be aware that you will most likely suffer from leaks at some point in the cars life.

I have a 3yo in a car set and a 6yo in a booster in my e93 with no problem. I don't use it with them all the time but don't get complaints.

I've sat in the back of an E93. There is space for your legs, that's about it. It's fine for shortish journeys < 1 hour. Not sure what it would be like for a long trip.

I did think of the E but falls same line as the A5 canvas roof and places I have to park rather have a tin head

The E92/3 has been my favorite from start when I got my E90 and wanted it in first place but back then needed the saloon

Those diagrams are great it looks like 132 to 140 cm in the back in width difference that should be fine for two recaros as it soon will be now to find one. 330is E93 are rare right now especially with decent spec

The E class is massive in the back. Biggest of the lot I think, defo bigger than an XKR. Not sure how a 6-series compares to the E class.
