It's a valid point, and its something I will be raising with PTF and how they validate their peak boost setting.

These guys tune hundreds of N54's, and are certainly no amateurs so one would surmise that there is a reason for what they do based on R&D testing they have conducted. Obviously if the turbos were out of their efficiency range above 17 psi they wouldn't open up the envelope for no reason.

I had a few beers with another N54 owner last weekend, and as he stated perhaps PTF are essentially breaking new ground with their tunes as the prices of these cars start to drop owners start to become 'bolder' and less concerned with keeping things somewhat sedate whilst the car is still under the bmw warranty....

something that can't be denied is the fact that making as much power as you can without maxxing out the boost on your turbos will lead to better longevity.

But it's all about doing this in a balanced and efficient way to reach the goal that you want to achieve, at a compromise.

50% of each fuel will only net you 42.5% ethanol content. Yes some may say well that's close enough but to get closer to E50 you'd want to put 60% E85 and 40% 98RON but at those percentages you really need to have an upgraded LPFP and a healthy HPFP to keep up with the flow. I've seen car's pull timing pretty bad on E30-E40 mixes while trying to run upwards of 15 degrees of advance. Not saying PTF do that.
