Cylinder 4 misfire on Map 0 WOT???

Hi all,

Just installed JB4 onto my 2009 N54 335i. Put it on Map 1 and have a quick drive around the corner. Engine light came on and the car starts to idle slightly rough. I stopped and hook on the computer found cylinder 4 is misfiring. Clear the code and switch to Map 0. Have another drive, on WOT and quick downswift, the engine light came on again. Checked on the computer, and its cylinder 4 misfire again? Clear the code again, checked its on Map 0 and went for another drive, guess what!!! Cylinder 4 misfire again. The car never have any misfire before the installation of JB4. It puzzle me that the car starts to misfire after the installation of JB4 and even I have put it back to Map 0, it still misfire.

I suspect that it could only be the injectors or the plugs at this stage. Getting the plug change tomorrow and see what happen. Anyone have similar issue even when you put it on Map 0?

You could swap coils around and see if the misfire follows. If it does, replace the coil. If not could be plugs. Probably is plugs. They need to be done more often with a tune.

And can't tell if you are talking about only changing one plug tomorrow. I'd do them all at the same time.

Change the plugs man, happened on mine persistently on cylinder 2. New set of plugs , knock them gaps down slightly and away it went!

Plugs often, I have never seen a car do this to plugs after only 35,000 miles....Notice cylinder 6 (far right).

Your cylinder 6 looks like you have a leaky injector.

Think I can get that covered under warranty if I show the service adviser the photo? The current plugs are going to be clean, they just went in a week ago.

Worth a shot but typically BMW won't work on anything unless there are codes or a clear indication of a problem. Like a very poor idle, stumbling idle, excessive vibration ETC ETC
