Just been out in a new M3 - AWESOME!!

Hi guys - just been out for spin in the new M3 - had to tell someone about it.....it was AWESOME!!!

The car is amazingly quick and bloody gorgeous to look at!

It was finished in bright red with the upgrade 19" wheels and black nappa.

The sound of the V8 is out of this world, and the view of the bonnet hump when you sit in the car is ace. Power delivery is unbelievable - the thing just launches itself and hits licence losing speeds in seconds. lol!

It also had logic 7 sound - if anyone is considering this as an upgrade when spec'ing their car....all i can say is if you can afford it, go for it!! It sounds fantastic and the volume capabilty could deafen you!

Not a very informative thread, I do apologise, but had to share my experience

Paul

I'd second the logic 7 point - I did and it is worth it. My salesmen laboured the volume point by saying "we couldn't find a volume level that the sound distorted at". Hopefully they didn't try to do so in my car

Carlos, not an M3 I grant you , but you were asking about my ST, so here's a couple of snaps of the ST3, which I owned for 7 weeks! I didn't even run it in, it had 1700miles on it when I sold it, for a small profit

How come you made a profit again Petay?? did you buy it with the intention of selling on so quick, i fancy buying a few if i can make some bucks on em even if is only in the hundreds

Being an EX Ford man i have to say it is a smart car, and in the best colour but i do prefer your Le Mans 335d

Thanks for the pics Petay

A chap along the road from me has a bright orange one... it is very noticeable... from a distance

I was under the impression yours was the 5 door Pete, not sure why, but the 3 door looks smarter.

I prefer the 335d too, no contest!

I brought the ST3 with a 23% discount, via a work related Ford discount scheme (not Privilege). When the 'ASBO' ST was first launched discounts were few and far between. It goes out of production in Oct or Nov this year and there are plenty around now so discounts are getting big and it is hitting resale values. Anyway, I was a bit nervous about buying a new Ford because of the depreciation factor, and STs were becoming common, so I bought it then got cold feet, ordered the 335d (I was never going to have the ST for long anyway) and sold the Ford for 300 more than I paid for it. I sold it effectively as a part ex against the 335d. The dealer had it underwritten by a local trader for 16000. The dealer knew what the score was and knew I was making a little bit of money - what did he care! The car is still for sale, at 18,000 after nearly 3 months. I think I got out just in time!

The car is here: (he has been driving it, it now has 2300 miles on it)

The orange one definitely needs the "ASBO" badge I've seen a few of them wearing.... nice but it has definitely been tango'd

Carlos - how old are you - I have been very reliably informed that unless you are over 30 years of age you will not be able to drive a dealers demo car. That is certainly the case with the one i drove.

I think Tiff Needle summed it up on Fifth Gear tonight - the V8 engine gives it a more relaxed feel... not slow, or unresponsive in any way, but just different from the old style M3

Yep - When you have it in 'M' mode the throttle response is so soooo sharp. Short stabs of the throttle result in great V8 barks out the back
