It seems to me that Lexus is simply calling what would otherwise be known as the IS coupe the RC instead. I would expect both IS-F and RC-F just like there will be both M3 and M4. But that's just my guess. I suppose Lexus could give up the sedan and let BMW, Mercedes, and Cadillac (maybe even Audi again this time) have those sales instead.

Here's another video of the car being tested at the nurburgring.

May very well be marketing scheme Cannot wait for it to come out and see how new generation of M4, RC-F, RS4, CTSV duke it out

Really? I actually like the sound of this new ISF. There's almost a harmonious quality to it.

The last ISF sounds like a regular old V8 to me.

http://www.motortrend.com/future/con...ew_lexus_rc_f/

Now comes the tastiest part: the engines. In addition to the V-8 in the flagship RC F, the RC lineup has a new turbocharged 2.0-liter, a 2.5-liter hybrid and a 3.5-liter V-6 with Torsen LSD. We're going to focus mainly on the RC F, given its implications. Powered by a 5.0-liter V-8, the RC F generates 455-hp at 6800 rpm and 401 lb-ft of torque at 5200 rpm. Our insider also reveals that the RC F will clear strict new Euro-6 emissions regulations. To achieve that, the RC F will incorporate Lexus' (and Toyota's) first-ever cylinder deactivation technology in which four cylinders will be shut down during high-speed cruising. The RC F will also incorporate a paddle-shifted, eight-speed, three-mode (Normal, Sport, and Snow) automated manual transmission called Sports Direct Shift borrowed and revised from the IS F. It's also fitted with an advanced fuel supply system and race-tuned exhaust for a beefier note.

...

The car also benefits from knowhow gained from racing at the Nurburgring with the Lexus IS F CCS-R race spec, which undercut the production IS F's curb weight by some 650 pounds. We can look forward to seeing race versions of the RC F on tracks from Suzuka to Nurburgring to Laguna Seca as new internationally standardized Europe-Japan-U.S. race regulations come into play by 2017.

The second paragraph is the most interesting to me. I wonder how much weight they were able to cut.

By the way just like the 3 series is now technically being called the 4 series, the new ISF will technically be called the RCF.

A big shame BMW could not keep the S65 and add direct injection with cylinder deactivation and KERS with the sound of 9.000 RPM.

More precisely:

"Just like the 3 series is now technically being called the 4 series, what would have been the new IS coupe will be the RC instead. High performance variants will naturally be called IS-F and RC-F."

Is the slot in the middle of the hood where beard hairs exit? That just looks like a huge electric razor.

No but seriously they're both ugly cars (the E30 and the IS). The new IS looks like it has a black hole for a grille, and the E30 looks like a box on wheels.

Yeah but you'd be surprised at how often people are confused about this. Renders are next to useless.

Latest and most accurate render yet. Liking the rear. Very aggressive.

Can't wait to test drive M4 and RCF when they come out. If they drive well, might think about selling my e90 M3.

If it drives well, could contend with the M3/M4.
