engine light 335d

got a engine symbol with half shaded yellow come up on the dash today.fault on the I drive said engine fault.full engine power not available drive moderately have problem checked at bmw.after switching engine off then switching back on after a few mins there was nothing there and car drives as normal.
I do have a dtuk tuning box fitted and only running at 10% would this be the problem along with being a really hot day.cheers for any advice

your were on limp mode, better check your mileage this forum is more the U.S. built 335d and we welcome you anyway,but, we need more info as to gather what can be your problem please be more detailed, gracias!!

could it possibly have been the extra power from the tuning box that put it in limp mode.is there any way of accessing the fault codes without a scanner.the car has 72000 miles has full history and been well looked after.it is due service though .thanks for the advice

Only way to read the code is with access to CANBus. OBDII scanners run at $16 (USD). The Bravarian one that reads same codes exactly as BMW does is way more, but the basic models will atleast guide you in the right direction.

And, yes there is a small possibility that boost, oil pressure, and many other factors adjusted with the DTUK could have sent a code through the engine. You could also be joining the carbon build up club like me

Unfortunately, the answer is No. You just have to buy one; think of it as just another tool in your toolbox (assuming you have one.) Some auto parts stores in the States will read your codes for free - have you checked over there?
