So true! A friend of my dads has a net worth that easily exceeds 10 million yet he remains a loyal Camry fan. Camrys for the whole family! Haha

You're a good father Ken. M5s are expensive- kids are priceless.

Shit, I'd get an NB Miata, do wheels/suspension/clutch/turbo for a total less than 12K. That would be a little beast.

Dropped my car off for service. Took them 2 months to repair my car. They gave me a chevy Malibu. a gold one.. My Mom laughed her ass off at me. My baby cousin didn't even want to get in the car with me to take her to a dinner (shes a spoiled rotten brat that I love with all my heart) I know my car isn't a Veyron but we've always had the nicer cars in my entire family. So it was pretty funny to see a malibu our driveway that was beat up and missing paint on a lot of parts of the car.

I agree in principal, but you can still feel entitled to the loaner: the dealership is making a PUTLOAD on the service you're in for, be it from you personally or from BMWNA for warranty repairs. The loaner is built into the high-priced model.

I'm never keen on taking pleasure as a result of someone else's misfortune. It's a shame when folks get into a predicament resulting in the outcome about which the OP asked, but I don't feel too much sympathy for them when they should have known better in the first place. Fortunately, I am rarely in a position to know whether they should have known better, so I just express my regret at hearing of their situation, giving the benefit of the doubt.

It's a whole different story when this happens and it's clearly the result of "sh*t happening." I do have sympathy for those folks.

I *love* bringing my car in for warranty service. I get extended test drives of 335s, brand new loaded 328s, if I'm lucky they have manuals on hand. It's a treat every time.

When I was buying the FR-S/BRZ wasn't readily available, but I'm definitely test driving one next time I'm in the market. The reviews are fantastic all over the board. It sounds like you'd never win a track day, but you'd have a hard time getting the smile off your face after.

Having directly compared the GTI and 328 over the last year, I wouldn't hesitate to get one. Hatchback, so obviously ridiculously useful and practical, and really the *only* things it's missing are the "luxury" touches that aren't a huge deal: hydraulic hood lifters instead of a prop arm, LED welcome lights in the door handles, etc etc. Where it matters, that car gets everything right. Granted, it stacks up to a 328, not a 335. I'd love to test a Golf R.

in all seriousness depending on the cost of your service vehicle you should expect a loaner car that represents BMW's gesture of appreciation for your Premium initial purchase. When this does not occur to the customers liking, a simple discussion with the service branch manager can take place. BMW will provide you with a small discount or attempt to reschedule your visit to a reserve date in which by appointment you will have a loaner vehicle suitable for you...

Often times I wish I wasn't an auto-enthusiast because I would save a lot of money that way. In the way of mods, and I wouldn't feel the need to purchase such expensive cars. I can do it and I can afford it without any strain at the moment - but the extra money going into savings might be nice too.

I would drive a lesser car and probably still be happy, but I would still be picky about what I was choosing.
+1 totally agree.

I need to correct my previous statement.

"I would drive a lesser car and probably still be happy"

I could definitely drive a lesser car (or not own a car) and still be happy. My car brings me joy but there's more to life than a car.

Bmw NA is going to laugh at you.

Dealerships aren't required to give loaners at all, let alone bmw's. Luckily mine does, but if they didn't I certainly wouldn't be pompous enough to file a complaint.

My friend had to give up his BMW for a "lesser" car. He got a Wolfsberg Edition VW Jetta.

He said it took him all of several minutes to adjust. Also, he said, "It was good though, i think i learned something about the relative value of cars and how much it really matters to me."

I have owned plenty of nice cars and plenty of junkers and I certainly prefer the nice ones. BUT, there is something to be said for not worrying about every little curb rash and scratch on my fancy car. It makes for one less worry in life.

Also, have you ever been to a really poor country? It gives a different perspective on the difference between a "want" and a "need." I could definitely live without a luxury automobile and be happy. My happiness comes from the people around me.

I am seriously considering getting a Golf R as my next vehicle. My wife has a GTI with DCT and that thing is a blast to drive, as well as eminently practical.

If BMW brought a 5 door hot hatch over here, I'd jump on it in a heartbeat.
