Phil, just to clarify, the RX8 comment was about me. I was pointing out that IF I had regularly posted pics of my BMW on the RX8 Owner's Club forum, which I frequented for over 3 years, I would probably have been flame grilled and BBQd. Carl was posting pics of his Beemer on an entirely different forum.

Carlos takes a lot of stick on the chin on this forum and ignores a lot of stuff so I don't think he necessarily can't take adverse reactions on the chin. There are ways and means of saying things - I've pm'd carl about this and tried to explain why I think (some of) these guys reacted the way they did, you guys have perhaps put it a bit more bluntly. I still say there's no need for it. Carlos obviously loves the car, these forums are supposed to be for people who are passionate about cars, who cares who bought it, or what it is. If it was once a week then yes but after a few months....so what? No excuse whatsoever to start posting personal stuff about him or his family. There's clearly a lack of moderation as the rules suggest that any personal rants won't be tolerated yet people are allowed to post all that stuff about Carl's mum (in the earlier thread). It shouldn't get personal like that no-matter what their views on Carlos and his dad's car.

In summary, I know WHY they posted what they did (mostly because they are illiterate scumbags as alluded to in someone else's post above), but I don't condone it - Carlos perhaps needs to expect it but that doesn't make it right. I know which forum I would prefer to post on.

silverbmwz3 : Many have taken the time to explain why it is happening, and suggest how to avoid the same responses in the future. It is not sugar coated as Carlos has dismissed off-hand most of those comments previously. But neither is it trying to be insensitive.

His social awareness skills need brushing up. (euphemistically speaking here)

If he goes yet again to stick his hand in the fire he has learned nothing. I hope he is smarter than that. I hope that is what he can take with him from this episode.

Each forum has its own tone. That forum is hardly the vicar's teaparty - more thigh-slapping, rough backroom barracks banter with acerbic wit. We (You, I and Carlos) know that. He chooses to post in that environment.

If you want to go on a single handed sociological crusade to get all those uncouth ruffians to be poilte to each other you'll have no time to post on here And life would be a little more homogeneous.

D.

I agree, I'm not hoping to change them... but it would be a sad place if everyone stopped commenting on things that dissapoint them but they can't change

I suspect this one has run its course, we seem to be broadly in agreement.

I think Carlos' problem is his enthusiasm and exuberance at his ownership of the BMW(I'm not getting into whether it's his own car or someone else's!), ordinarily this would not be a problem as lets face it most of us on this forum share the enthusiasm or we simply would not be here to write comments or read the comments.

Carlos just needs to temper said enthusiam/exuberance to acceptable levels & dependent to whatever type of forum he visits.

I would like to think that given the type of car he now drives, his visits to 'other types of forums' will be curtailed & he will stick to forums that befit his status as a driver/owner of a premium marque.

As Dave has already mentioned, one can only advise,if Carlos chooses to ignore sound advice,on his head be it.

Here endeth Chapter 45,verse 6345 RevZZ.

guys ive taken on board what you have all said, Phill, Davo, Hotcoupe and Silver... Silver does seem to be more sympathetic or mayeb even empathetic.

Dave, I am socially very good with people (in real life) and get on with everybody i have ever met (often told i should be on tv, and also would make a good salesperson) .. i am a very enthisuastic person, not just for cars but life generally which is good. Now on this forum im much more in your face, (than other forums) which is well tolerated by many of you and no doubt many of you think im a nice guy who sometimes takes the piss by going on too much etc (oil dipshit thread springs to mind) but generally get on with all of you and i would like to keep it that way

This other Forum as you know dave is a bit more rough and ready, but i personally dont feel i deserve such comments about myself or my wonderful family. The comments about the car i can handle altho im sure every single one of you on here would not agree with there comments of a ''middle of the range car'' and nothign special... in my opinion its far more special than some of their cars

i have been a member for a long time on that site and when i had cars of there calibre there was no issue no matter how often pictures were posted.. the whole scene is very different to the bmw scene for sure and slowly but surely i am growing out of that other scene.

one day i would love to meet you Dave to prove what a nice chap i am

everyone at UK4 thought i was a great bloke, as did i think everyone there was ''spot on''

thanks for taking the time everyone to make comments and offer advice, only time will tell if ive taken any head of any of this advice

luv ya all

Carlos - some of the things I am about to say are probably a bit personal. I hope they don't upset you - because I actually think you are a very decent bloke.

You've got a strong character and you seem to like attention - to the extent that sometimes you can be a bit of a 'drama queen' (e.g. the great oil debate).

Having said that all the evidence on this forum is that you are a decent sort of chap and you can certainly take a joke!

Because of your strong character and because you seek attention, you are inevitably going to annoy people. You also set yourself up to be teased.

I don't think this is about jealousy.

It's more simple than that. Some people in this world are nice, but many are not. The nasty ones don't care about the effect that they have on other people and if they don't like some aspect of another person they say so, aggressively - like school bulies.

Fortunately, on the UK forum the vast majority are decent, professional and intelligent people. That's why you don't get see playground bullying.

I wouldn't suggest that you change. In fact I kind of admire the fact that you are happy to be 'yourself'. You just need to realise that some people will have a pop at you because you place yourself in the firing line and because they are total arseholes.

You put that Less bluntly than I did, but it was (sort of) what I meant.

Carlos
Unfortunately, some people are idiots and to make things worse, as we get older we meet more and more of them. Don't let them get you down. There's no shame in moving on - just leave them to it - walk away.

Carlostthewilltolive,

Being one of the few UK members on here who has actually met you face-to-face, I really do think you're funny (even though you might not always realise why!) , sociable & good fun to be around.

I had a great time at UK4, as I hope you did & the rest of the gang.

I think you should enjoy yourself, as long as you try to think before you post- it could save you a lot of messing about in future.

Life moves on, so you should try to make the most of what you've got & 'f*ck the t*ssing f*ckers' who you've had 'dealings' with in the past, as you'd probably say!

Or just FeFe (f*ck 'em & forget 'em) as you may also say?!

Now, just to help get this thread closed, here's a nice picture to help put a smile on your face!

All the best.

Viv
