Alpine Retrofit - Couple of questions

I asked this question in another topic, but I think it got lost in all the other stuff I asked! :P

So, Id like to find out 2 things about the Alpine retrofit kit please:

1.) I have a Parrot kit (MKI9100) installed, which connects between the Radio and the cars speakers to play calls etc. Will this still work once the amp is in place? Does anybody have the Alpine upgrade AND a Parrot kit who can comment?

2.) What is the best place / price I can get hold of this kit from?
I have seen the price vary from people claiming as low as 260 to as high as 500.

It should not be a problem.

Parrot kit sits b.w HU and Fakra connector.

Alpine kit takes the signals where they are divided to go to sub + front speakers.

The only thing which I can think of ---> bit of echo as front speakers will be loud.

I had coded and tweaked sound settings on a car with Gladen kit + Parrot kit. No issues on that.

Ok thanks Makkan.

I guess I would just need to turn down the volume on the parrot kit, as it would now be double amplified if I understand this correctly? (First by the Parrot and then out through the Alpine amp)

I installed the alpine kit with the parrot kit installed, I forget the model number now but it was the one with the small screen. After installing the alpine kit the sound when getting a call was very poor, as Makkan said quite echoey and tinny. In the end I've binned the parrot kit and gone for OEM Bluetooth and USB, that cured it completely.

Hmmm, that dosent sound good

Having to replace the HU with one with factory BT + USB would almost double the cost of this upgrade.
IT would also mean I loose functionality. Currently my Parrot kit provides Bluetooth media streaming, which the HU does not as far as I can see.

May have to give this a miss in the end...

Thanks for the comment and 1st hand exp.

Yeah I was gutted when I'd installed it, I was thinking I'd installed the alpine kit wrong at first but when it went back to normal fitting the OEM Bluetooth I knew it was the parrot and alpine kit not working together. The alpine kit is a great upgrade and well worth the money, however if your doing media streaming through it the music quality would get annoying after a while.

Shame

The media streaming actually goes over the Parrot kit, but then uses the aux port to pass the audio to the radio. So the parrot does not use its own "amp" for this part.
So that bit would remain fine.
The calls would be the bit that would be rubbish. Which is still a deal breaker :/

All I know is, my next car will some sort of factory premium sound already installed!!

So far BT streaming will never give you true quality sound on any sort of unit and the difference becomes more evident when you add the amplifier.

It is always better to have 6FL / direct USB input for the music to have proper sound if you are upgrading your sound system.

I did think, how good can BT really be!

Probably works out all round better I do not do this upgrade

If I for some reason find myself with 650 burning a hole in my pocket, ill look to get a new HU + Alpine amp

So thanks guys for the sound advice and stopping me find out the hard way!

Why not use the parrot for calls with an external speaker under the steering wheel that does not need the alpine amp
