what do you mean it's not worth it? if you are talking about cost im pretty sure it will be worth it than buying a bigger turbo or yet a whole turbo kit.

fitting a more aggressive wheel and some porting to the stock turbo's will give us an increase in power. How much and do we have the fuel system to handle the power.....? thats the question.
What is the update? has FP come up with anything?

The USDM WRX turbo was actually a TDO4L 13T. very similar, but not the same.

I did talekd to one of the technicians at FP(forcedperformance), I explained him the situation but at that time I had no specs on the turbos.

Through extensive research I was able to find a car that also uses a TD03 turbo, if AI am nos mistaking it was the 85 Mitsubishi mirage.
i
The guy at Forced performance told me to send him a e-mail with all the data available(including pics). I personally never finished collecting the entire data as a whole.

The most pratical way was sending a turbo unit but there are not many turbo units laying around and that is exactly why my post title says:looking for a guinea pig meaning that if we can have a spare turbo(even a broken turbo) then Forced Performance can build a upgrade from scrath.

These guys are very competitive, they will build you a brand new turbo from the bare metal, they have all the macinery to design, built, balance, and upgrade turbos.

I made 2 more attemps to call them in which I left a message but they did not return my call. Despite the fact that they haven't return one or 2 phone calls they are still a top notch company very capable of producing what we need.

I am 100% sure we can upgrade our existing turbo via porting, polishing and upgrade of compressor and turbine wheel. If anyone wants to help please do so.

It looks very clear that we had many BMW owners that used FP for previous turbo cars like the 3000 VR4( the most similar turbo configuration to our cars) and they succesfully upgraded their 9bs to 13g using the existing turbo housing. We also know how much of a punch was when going from 9B to 13G so we know the gains on the BMW will be respectable..

Oh man, for some reason, I thought they were upgraded as I remember seeing the stock turbos many times - they were tiny. I guess that picture made them look a little bigger for some reason...

Thanks for the clarification, I was under the impression that they were 13G. I ended with a Forced Performance oil cooled ported and polished 18G on the WRX.

Does anyone knows if they came from a crashed car?, I am not doubting the serviceability of the item, I am trying to figure out if the owner of the turbos did actually replaced them with something else..

i still want to see a fuel upgrade accomplished on this vehicle, from what i have read on some procede dyno threads from shiv the fuel system is operating very VERY close to it's maximum.
I also want to see this happen, it sounds like a very good viable option for most people with small amounts of cash flow for mods and also for people who have the factory warranty.

I personally only have experience with IHI turbo chargers, i upgraded my stock 626 gt turbo twice with ford t-bird compressor housings and wheels. it was by far the best mod i have ever done as far as $ - HP is concerned.

Been looking around for contributions to this thread. Being able to upgrade the turbos would be a very good leap in performance for the 335i

Here's the thread...

Well you would be able to do it with a Haltech box and someone who can tune it. Good thing me and BoLaS know who that is .

The Alpina B3 would be the right target for such a turbo upgrade, since it comes with reduced compression, forged pistons, better fuel pump etc.
As for a normal 335, I would never go more than 380whp which does not need a turbo upgrade.

+ 100

Are you sure about the fuel pump ? Alpina uses high-flow catalysts.
