Code: 2A99

Hello everyone, been a while since I've been on this forum. I've got an issue with going into limp mode, I've pulled the code and got 2A99.

2A99 Crank shaft - outlet camshaft, correlation

I am a bit confused as I've read a few different things.

I went ahead and removed the solenoids in the front and cleaned and re-installed (vanos solenoids).

cleared codes, test drove, code came back.

Now I am correct in assuming that the solenoid is my issue? Any suggestions are welcomed before I shell out 120 bucks for a solenoid.

Recently had the same problem.. tried to clean first but codes came back. ended up buying x2 new solenoids and it fixed my problem.

When you reinstalled did you flip 2 solenoids or put back into their respective spots? If so probably need to replace.

Yes put them both back in the same spot, i noticed excessive rust on the bottom exaust solenoid so i am thinking it is the source of my problem. Ordered 1 new one and hopeful it isnt the camshaft bearing ledge.
