Conti DWS's get my vote. Great for rain / slush and light snow (which is typical in Central MD). If you expect to be driving in anything more than a few inches though you should be looking at dedicated winters

I run DWS on my car too. As you said, not great for track work, but for wear and comfort, definitely good.

2009 BMW 328i  [0.00]
I had DWS on an M sport 135i, and the sidewall was way too soft for that car. It would wallow all over the road and scare me at high speeds. FYI tire pressures were at 40 all around and the car had 20k miles with no worn parts...
For the 328, I'll stay with newer run flat All seasons
