This forum is a commercial enterprise. Sponsors pay.

The biggest sponsors exert lots of pressure when a new open source platform renders their expensive devices obsolete.

Add to that the deletion of a thread for breaking the record of highest powered n54 by one of the rivals of the sponsors.

Anyway I'm happy to let UK members borrow my BT tool if they want to flash their cars for free.

This sounds impressive and i am very excited!!! BUT FORGIVE MY IGNORANCE for the following questions...

What is actually going on ... ??? You are able to upload other, improved more agressive maps onto the JB4?

Couldnt we do that already?

Could someone please clarify in detail for a noob when it comes to tuning...

To sum it up, the JB4 hasn't got the best control on engine timing (or no control at all depending on which version you have). By flashing the ECU with a more aggressive timing map (how aggressive depends on your fuel). You can then leave the JB4 to do its thing with fueling+boost. There's a bit to gain with a car running just v-power but people on meth/bigger turbos or even both will potentially get more.

And just to add for people who don't have a JB4, they can remap their cars for free with custom maps

Cheers mate!!!

So do you just download your maps from N54tech? Or do we have some specific ones for us running Vpower?

So just JB4 and other bits not really worth it? If I had larger turbo or meth then probably is ? Is that what you are saying fella ?

there will still be improvements on stock turbo's without meth. just bigger improvements if you happen to have them.

This is more about smoothness and consistency.

You can run 18psi of boost all day but if you are getting timing pulled and lack of fuel at the top end the car will be slower. This back end flash remedies that and is proving to make very good gains on all cars - pump or race..

My car now wheel spins in third at 2,500rpm on a dry road - Nuff said.

Apologies if this is a daft question, but can you just apply this map with no hardware other than the cable? Or do you need a JB4?

The BT cable and FLASH remap have nothing to do with the jb4 or procede

It's flashing your BMW DME with manipulated tables based on your original DME file

So you'll get a tune on the car with or without a jb4 or procede. However coupled with a piggyback tune you get best of both worlds

I'm running procede piggy FBO + PWM meth with the stg1 oft flash which I loaded with the OPEN FLASH TABLET

It is worth the effort and will make more power in a smoother delivery

Great! Appreciate your response.

I might have a play around with this.

Apologies if this is off topic

I have a 6AT transmission car and I applied a gearbox tune from an Alpina b3. This makes your gear shifts fast and close to as fast as a DCT M3

If your car is an auto box and built after 03/07 then you could also flash your transmission control unit TCM.

I have the cable laptop and software to do it and I'm in Milton Keynes if anyone wants this. I can also provide the software download all you need is a DCAN cable and a windows laptop

Your welcome to ride in mine to see what it's like

The BB flash requires no hardware, just the cable and a laptop.

The BMS backend flash being reviewed here requires a JB4. Terry is using the BB flashing software as a delivery channel - effectively open sourcing his flash..

I WANT!!!!

BUT one question... If i go into BMW for warranty work, currently you can just remove your JB4... But if you map the car using the cable... can it be easily reversed and they be none the wiser? Or are you causing yourself issues here?

Thanks

The flash is your original file with adjusted tables so no BMW tech will notice
