What 'aftermarket fogs' are you referring to? HID fogs can be tricky. You have to get good quality canbus ballasts else you end up with errors. But depending on the firmware on your car, even high quality kits are not guaranteed to be error-free. You have to buy from a place with good return policy.

Those are only the housings. If you use the oem bulbs you will still get yellow lights.

I usually avoid aftermarket housings because they are never as good as oem. You can never be sure about the fit and finish. And the optics are always inferior compared to oem. When it comes to focusing and projecting light beams, the housing design and optics are critical.

Do the rest of us drivers on the road a favor and don't get HIDs for the love of God- they are obnoxiously bright and it just pisses everybody off.
Get a set of Lumix H8s or H11s (depending on whether or not you have the M-sport option) in your color of choice and call it a day.

Ah ok- well I have zero experience with HID kits, but as far as brighter, I can only offer that the higher up you go on the Kelvin scale, the less lumens (visible light) you'll see.
Do you have xenons? If so, are they OEM? What color temperature (kelvin) if not?

They are on the cheap side made of plastic..., I dont recommend using them for headlight HID because they are close to engine and get hot(buy metal), BUT works fine for fogs and for the price and 2 year warranty. i bought 10000k for fun on camera it looks really blue in person not so much, as u can see. but they are bright here pic and link and if you do buy them Best offer $25 dont forget to find some cheap cancelers tho

Correct me if I'm wrong, my understanding is:

H8 is for pre-LCI

H11 is for LCI (non M-sport)

HB4 is for LCI (M-sport)

AFAIK, for E90 and E92, H11 goes in the round fogs (m-sport) and H8s go in the square fogs. Don't think it's an LCI/ Pre LCI thing (although it could be, never owned a non m-sport LCI).

The important differences are that H11 bulbs are 55w and H8 bulbs are 35w.

I hear people get Alpine HID but there $120 ... I guess if you have the money go for it... id say go for the better kit for headlights, not fogs but your choice. there are some other ones on ebay for look metal with canceller $50.
