Yip that's the one. Sadly its time to get rid of it. It's just too unreliable.

Does your car have a good service history with BMW? This is a costly repair, but if the car has always been serviced at a dealership you can get a lot of help from BMW UK as this is a common fault.

Yip i bought it from the main dealer here in Northern Ireland but have had nothing but trouble with it. It's been back to them 8 times in the last year. They said they cant fix the turbo's because there are no error codes present. Will probably go back to something Japanese for reliability.

They are just BSing you to try and get out of doing anything about it. Call/Write to BMW UK and explain the issue and how unhappy you are (don't be rude) and how you are unlikely to buy another BMW. I think you'll find your issue is sorted regardless of there being no fault code.

Cheers for the advise. I'v already made my mind up and its going this week. love the car but there are better things out there for the money

Quick update! Was unfortunately a combination of things that all added up, but now the cars back to health. It was:

A leaky vacuum tank
A busted nipple on a diverter valve
A leaky hose under the engine cover

It was mainly the diverter valve that fixed the issue, but the other 2 did bring noticeable improvements.
