335 with 110k miles worth it?

Ok so im looking for a bmw 335i and found one with 110k miles on my price range, after reading all the issues with it, what is your own personal opinion on it?

A little about myself, I like working on cars is like a passion to me, I've had 7 f bodies and a 01 C5 vette, all of them I worked myself on, not sure what I can say about a german car, the closes to this is my last Saab 9-3 I just sold today (it was pretty reliable for 8 months) so I want to know if you DYI most of the repairs is it worth it?

thanks in advance

What's the price??

I picked up a 97k miles 335, previously used by old people as a highway commute car.

Yea it had a little higher miles than I woulda liked, but the car was cleannnnn. Still on original WP, non leaking oil filter housing, non leaking VCG. Just because you see these issues all over the board doesn't mean they all have them..

I'm coming up towards 110k now and still have yet to find any major issue I couldn't fix within a few hours of my own time.

Parts are pricey for anything turbo related. You may end up deep in the car. It's a bit of miles for that car. If it has had its parts previously replaced, then maybe it's worth a shot.

price is 10k so i think its a decent price for it, its a small dealership but its not local, so I have to travel just to see it which I don't mind at all, Im just wondering since I won't be familiar with the city, what should I test/look for when I see it if its worth it?

10k seems low even with that mileage. What year? Has it been wrecked?

Just make sure your bank account is ready, 110k on a 335 could get costly imo.

i mean waterpump, thermostat, gaskets here in their doubt 5k, only if you take it to the dealer than yes that's possible really quick, and they should still cover the HFPP till 120k miles so I could get it replaced along with the injectors for free ?

I took a look at the photos in the link. Both pictures that show the hood seem to Look as if has been repainted. It seems like its a dull flat black . If the hood was damaged , then I would look at all the things behind it, such as the pulleys , oil housing valve cover to see if there is any damage. Best of luck with your purchase .

These threads pop up practically daily on this forum. Here is my 2 cents -

Cars are a machine: how has it been maintained?
Maintenance records are very valuable. Plus they prove that the owner cared enough to save them. Thats points for me.
Has it been wrecked?
Miles? Fcuk miles. Its just numbers on the dash. How does the car feel from behind the wheel?

110K miles is nothing in the long run. Just be ready to drop some time and money fixing the standard BMW 100k maintenance parts - water pump, Tstat are a must.

had not noticed that good call, and I guess ill invest in autocheck to see if it has been on an accident

I wouldn't buy one with over 50k but just know what you're getting yourself into. It isn't a Corvette, it's a German car with 2x turbos and expensive parts. Don't buy it unless you have a full history on what's been done so you know what to expect.

I had service records from throughout the cars history, no accidents, and the car drove very well. Interior also very good shape. Under hood was clean as well but I'm sure the dealer I bought from cleaned it down.

In the 10k I've owned it the only things I've had to fix were spark plugs and a cut wire leading to the DTML pump.

FWIW I paid 16.5K, which I thought was a good price considering condition of the car.

Go drive it, you'll love it. That engine is masterpiece. Yes, some repairs may get pricey, but thats the name of the game. Pay to play.
Personally i think that 100K miles on this german beast is nothing, people on here exaggerate a bit.

both extended warranties have expired. turbo wastegate at 8 yrs or 80,000 miles and HPFP i believe 8 yrs of 120,000 miles. I wouldnt mess with it. But thats just my 2 cents. my 09 335 has 45k on it and the HPFP has already been replaced and im just now having both turbos replaced due to wastegate rattle ($5000 repair.my payment $0.00).So check to make sure those repairs have been done and how long ago they were repaired .Save up and buy one with less miles would be better. But thats just my opinion. Good luck with the purchase if you do decide to do it. I don't plan on keeping mine past 80,000 miles. Ill trade and get another with less miles when it comes to that time.
