New times Bandimere

It's amazing what some octane can do. For those that saw my last thread you know stock I was able to lay down a 13.9@98, after installing the JB4, DCI and Cat back I went a dissapointing 13.7@101 on Map 1 and saw no improvement on Map 2 or 5 (all on 91 Octane)

I've been meaning to get around to installing some new parts but have been busy. When I realized it was the last weekend of the season at Bandimere I decided to give it another shot with same mods. Showed up with about an 1/8th tank of gas and put in 5 gallons of 104 octane (race weight 3775 w/driver). Switched to Map 2 on the JB4 and the first pass was a 13.3@ 105, backed it up with another 13.3 then went 13.17@105. Now we're getting somewhere but the clutch was smelling and starting to slip so I let it cool down a bit.

Switched to Map 7 and laid down a number of 13.0X but the clutch was giving up the ghost and would not allow me to get into the 12's. best 60 fts on map 7 were in the high 1.9X's vs the low 1.8's I was running earlier. Best time I managed was a 13.007@106.7( soooo close), best MPH was 108.45. I'm thinking with a better clutch I have a solid 12.7-12.8 run in this car with nothing more than DCI, Cat back and JB4. Not bad for this altitude...I guess we'll see next season.

Hey, nice to meet you yesterday. It's kind of funny that we're both in the same place being clutch limited...

Ha, yeah I guess we're finding the standard limit on the XI clutch. It was good to meet you and your wife yesterday also. I realized after I left when you asked for my username I never gave you my real name. It's Steve by the way. Hope to see you at the track with a new clutch next year!

Whoops, no need to update. Sold the 135. I have a 6 speed 335 xi and the wife has an auto 335 xi. Had all 3 at one point but had to let the 135 go.

Nice job man! There was a guy with a 335xi with just jb4 w/ e85/91 mix (50/50 i think) that ran 12.7@107mph (6AT). I caught that run on my iphone.

You are super close man. I really want to run a 12 with tune only but my best is in my signiture (8,400 DA' that day). I think that if I cool the car down with 50 degree weather and run the e30 race map, I could pull off one glory 12 second run haha.

I'm going to attack it again in the spring. I'm going to put in a new clutch and the Helix intercooler I have sitting in the garage and am hoping to run a 12.5@110. I know I have at least 2/10's left in the launch and if I can pick up 1 MPH up top from the intercooler I think I'll be there.

I guess only time will tell, but that 12.7 gives me a goal to shoot for if I don't do the intercooler. Everybody swears the auto is faster but I'm determined to dispell that myth.

I'm with you, and I've got my Helix in, but it'll be a tall order to match them. But I'm doing the same calculations in my head :-). My schedule is a little less aggressive, though. I'm not even done with CPO until May. I don't know if I'll be ready to do a clutch immediately or not. I'm not normally the type to take out functioning parts just because they don't work well at the strip...I usually wait for them to wear out first. We'll see...the other big thing to consider is downpipes.

Best mph I've run so far on the slipped clutch was 106.6. I figure the Helix should put me in the 108s but I doubt I'll hit 110 without downpipes unless I pull some weight out. But I understand how to control boost now in ATR and didn't before, so I suppose anything is possible.

I think if I add dp's and fmic on the ots e30 race map I have a solid 12.5@109ish in the car. Running a more aggressive FBO tune, who knows? 12.3@112 on a 45 degree night??

I was so blown away seeing him run that jb4 e85 only 12.7!!! Funny thing was he was so inconsistent. 13.5, 13.1, 13.7, 12.7, 12.9 and he is a 6AT. All my runs that same night were within 1/2 a 10th all night.
