Overclockers? Again, not the cheapest, but quality builds...

Yea always found them way over the top, well built without doubt, but they seem to charge more against others

Have to say it has crossed my mind, yet last time I used PC specialist it was only 50 more for them to do it, so thats why I like the thought of going that way, also I am bloody lazy lol yet maybe the case, its not the building, its the sourcing all the parts etc

Re-install OS and only install what you need/use.

Should be just as fast as the day you bought it. So if it was good then. It should be decent now.

BUT if you need to buy one - zoostorm for 150 off ebuyer. VFM

Time for a new one, i wish it was that simple, old intel E processor so its slow even with min OS install and all that, I am lucky enough to have a fibre connection here, yet this thing struggles to keep up.
Not going to buy anything until after xmas, yet want to start shopping now, will be looking at win 7 as I have 8 on my laptop and it does my head in

Shame you are not local as specialise in custom machine builds.

As others said overclockers.co.uk you can either put it together yourself or go for one of their prebuilt systems. Depends how brave /experienced you are.

Main thing is set a budget and spec up to it, also depends on what you will use the machine for.

I found the cheapest option is to build it myself. I usually would shop around for parts on amazon, newegg, ebay, and tigerdirect and then piece it together myself. This is the cheapest option and you know exactly what you are getting.

You could try Dinopc.com. They are similar to overclockers and pcspecalist but seem to come out a bit cheaper. Can't say if that is reflected in the quality of the build though as I have not taken the plunge yet.

I think it depends upon what you need. If you're after a basic work PC I have found that waiting for a decent Dell deal to come along can result in something cheaper than you could build it yourself.

However if you are after something for a specific purpose - gaming or video editing or some such - then building it yourself would be better.

Have had a lot of Dell PCs for work and home and in general they have been very reliable. Much better built than the Compaq/HP machine I am sing atm.

However good deals on desktop systems seem to be few and far between these days as most peeps are buying laptops or tablets.

What do you need the PC to be able to do?

I recently used cclonline and bought a motherboard bundle (which included an i5 CPU and 8GB RAM already fitted) together with a 1TB Hybrid hard drive. Using Windows 8.1 and it flies
