Also the HP numbers appear understated for the 335. If they dyno at the same rwhp as the 330 hp Infinity g37 and common sense drive train losses are not there when you look at the numbers.

What make anyone think their weight numbers are right?
HP and acceleration stats are very subjective and open for modification. Weight is not, they have a very strict guideline in which they must follow when they give the weight of the car. Also, because it's been right for every other car.

US numbers here not the UK ones people keep posting.
We keep posting the UK numbers because they are official numbers, everything on the american site is still preliminary data.

The car is 40kg (88lb) lighter according to BMW AG, and 199lb lighter according to BMW USA.

Who's the authority? I would tend to say BMW USA, since these are US spec cars we are talking about.

BMW AG claims the 335i is 1600kg (3520lbs) while BMW USA claims it is 3571lbs (for a difference of only +51lbs).
BMW AG claims the 135i is 1560kg (3432lbs) while BMW USA claims it is 3372lbs (for a differentce of -60lbs).

It is very strange indeed that BMW USA has the higher weight for the 335i, but the lower one for the 135i. An explanation of different weight measuring procedures will obviously not suffice here. The variations could, at least in theory, be due to a difference in standard equipment between the vehicles. But even that seems somewhat unlikely. I suppose we won't know the true answer until someone takes the two cars, comparable equipped, to a scale and weighs them.

Perhaps, but this information is appearing in the 1 series brochure now. Granted the fact that the 3 and 7 are still switched leaves the integrity of the data somewhat in question.

Like I said they have to follow very strict guidelines on the weight of a car. They don't here.

Exactly what I said 4 posts ago.

I am still keeping my hopes up that its closer to 200lbs lighter. Can't we hope people? Is that such a bad thing. JEZZ. Would'nt you all want it to be lighter?? Seriously.

It would be a good thing right?

Well Im tradeing in my 335i sedan for a 135i. Im betting on the fact that my 135i is going to be lighter, faster, and handle better then my 335i. also it should be less then my used 335i since im doing euro delivery. I personally like the look of the 135i. I remember how much shit was being talked about the 335i when it first came out, the e46 guys were just like,"damn thats so ugly." Same shit here now. I think its a personal thing.

This is another thing that Im thinking... I have a paid off 335i that i enjoyed driving with Procede for one year, I can drive it up to april trade it in, probably still have enough money to get a 135i fully loaded and only have to pay for my euro trip. So i get a new car, new warrenty, keep the same engine with procede and not have to drop any cash on this car. To me its a win win. But people need to chill out, the 335i is a tight ride. but for someone like me who wants to heavely modify my car and people who know me from chicago will attest, I will push my car to the limits. I dont care if Im going for a hour long drive or just down the street but im always balls to the wall. Just something for people in my shoes to think about.

The 135 looks like a great car. I just think we need someone to weigh one on delivery to settle the issue. Whether it's 100lbs or 400lbs less it will be an awesome rocket ship.

I would think the US car would be heavier just from an emissions standpoint to meet CA Guidlines, but what do I know.

Really?

It will offer the same or better driving experience than the 335, for $5000-6000 less, and it's overhyped???

Good point (...one for which I have illustrated in the past)! When the E46 came out, it was deemed ugly buy smug E36er's. Now most people love it! When the E9X came out, it was deemed ugly by smug E46er's. Now, most people love it! And the cycle will continue..........criticisms aplenty. Next year when 135i's (..modded and stock) are running around the streets, people will love them.

The blue looks good, but I do like the split-spoke wheels posted on the other blue 1-series. That lil' 1 is really growing on me!

Yeah but not for the reasons you mentioned. It's overhyped as a modern 2002ti.

No, it's not the same, the 135i brings ugly to an all new level. The styling on the e92 and e46 wasnt nearly as controversial. Just face it guys, it's beat ass ugly. This is bmw's pontiac aztec.

oh jezz come on. Some quirky things like the big ass headlights but not that bad.

I do think the 335i is sleeker and better looking but the 135i isnt as bad as you make it. Well in my eyes anyway and thats really what its all about.

I find this all funny how people are getting so heated over this. Honestly it is a bmw, we should all be happy they are making a car that is going to be a rocket ship. Say it does all the 335i does, and is cheaper, still that is great! I think it will handle better and maybe outperform the 335i by a slim margin. The 335i is a sick car though, I would love to have one, but right now prefer the 135i, alot because it is cheaper. I find it funny how people can judge the looks of a car they have not seen in person. I'll admit there are some things looks wise about the 135i I do not like, but hey Ill have more money in my pocket. Zeroday you put down this car in every way and you do not even have a bmw, let me guess you plan on getting the 335i, because you know, it's the sexier fat lady of the two.

HA! You must be new to the BMW forums if you truly believe that (..or you must have not paid much attention to the vast amount of threads surrounding the E46's ugliness when it debuted; the same applied to the E90 when it debuted).

Styling has always been a controversy with ever iteration of the 3-series.

I know Im a little late to this party ... but I couldnt agree more ...for example ...

the 535i is only 66lbs more then the 335i (E90) ... people would assume that the 5 series is WAY heavier but it really isnt.

Cool new track vid from joelk at 1addicts

Love the sound of those revs.

new video up!
new writeup too.

http://www.autospies.com/news/BMW-13...e-Lap-2-22333/

http://shows.autospies.com/video/bmw-135i-1-lap.wmv

can't find on youtube yet to post.

Here is another look at the BMW 135 Coupe performing on the racetrack, this time with 001 driving. The note of the engine and the exhaust in the video, doesn't do it justice, it is a sweet, smooth sound that grows gradually in volume and throatiness the further along the RPM range you go.

A look into this video will give you a sneak peak at what's about to stun the automotive world, in that you can see how well it performs on the track, and just how fast out of a corner the twin turbo engine propels this lightweight "3-Series", and how the competition (what little there is in this market right now) is going to be left in the dust wondering how they couldn't have been prepared for such a car......

it goes on to give some substance actually

bunch of hater and babies in here. The way you guys are arguing about trivial, subjective bullshit is really lame. The most pathetic og the bunch are you guys that get all butt hurt and bitter and start lashing out and getting pissed. You read a spec sheet and you think it makes you an expert? It doesn't. Drive the car, then you will know. end of story
