Can't see what it would have to do with the police - my car doesn't have a badge at all.

I've always debadged my cars,it looks cleaner and no badge makes it easier to clean the car.
As already mentioned by someone,if you know anything about BMW's the exhaust/s gives the game away.
If it does'nt,who ever sees the exhaust/s,generally only sees a brief glimpse as they disappear off into the blue yonder.

Black, debadged,M Sport models are aerodynamically superior to other models, they benefit by 15BHP,a well known fact.
Badged models tend to veer to the right, as the wind over the roof catches on the badge and pulls the car over - fact.

I just dont get the debadging thing.... unless the badgin is excessive in the 1st place... and that never really applies to BMW's.
Be proud of what you bought, whether 316 or 335 ... most people will respect u cos of it... only wankers make comments like "its ONLY a 316 or 318"... and I plan to visit them personally in hell

debadging has stealth appeal....like mine much cleaner look and so menacing when ive finshed with it lol.

do u really need to let ppl know what engine it has? to ppl in the know they can tell what it is anyway. but mind u i dont like to flaunt these things, discretion is the way forward imho

agree with the stealth comment, non bmw owners have no clue about the exhaust differences as a scoobie driver found out recently and for the sake of my licence i may have gone to 72mph.

as for M3's wouldnt matter due to the wing vents and the carbon roof on the new one especially

oh and it does make it easier to clean - not that its much harder with the badge just less fiddly

down to the individuals though, id rather debagdge and be stealth rather than debadge a lesser model trying to pretend

I normally prefer to debadge. Back in the day when I had one of the early E46 coupes (328ci) mine was the most powerful in the range (193bhp - how things have changed!) so I was happy that it was debadged. However, now I drive 'just' a 320i, I keep the badge on and wear it with pride, as I don't want people to think I'm trying to cover up the fact that I can't afford a 335i/d. Anyone in the know will be aware that it's a 320i or 320d and nothing else. Some people go to the lengths of getting twin exhausts on 4 pots etc. Pointless. And those E60 M5 replicas with the wheels, 4 exhausts, badges, bumpers etc, but without the crucial wider arches - well they just look laughable.

My point of view: if you've got a BMW (any BMW) you've not done badly so relax.

I was thinking of de-badging just cause I remember the badge being a pain with my E46 to clean and I think it looks nice and clean.

Seems those with higher end models assume that others would de-badge as they are somehow ashamed, that's not the case. I could easily afford a 335D, but I don't want to spend that much on a car, its that simple.

Part of me thinks I'll wear my 320D with pride But then, why should I change because of others attitudes? At the end of the day, we spec a car to suit ourselves - stuff everyone else and what they think.

Why do the manufacturers badge so much in the first place? 20 years ago it was subtle
