Yep! Exactly. A clean install. Mine's just like that, except I raised it a bit to have access to the emergency blinkers, hehe (and my GPS is different).

Very nice install. I'm certain you've thought of this, but thought I would ask to be sure: does this mount interfere with the passenger airbag operation? Any good way to know exactly where the air bag deploys to ensure nothing gets in the way?

Hi, does anyone know if the aftermarket BMW branded Nuvi 360 is wired so that it does not turn off when you turn the car off?

I just got mine today and the dealer said BMW changed the install to force people to remove unit from cradle. Doesn't seem right to me as I saw a Youtube video of someone who had the kit and when he powered off car, the Nuvi asked if you want to turn off the unit. Mine is not doing that, so from what I can see, it's using an always on 12v powered source.

Yeah I went for the KUDO mount one. It just clips in place (under the windshield air vent and the the center air vent. I bought a Garmin 7xx series GPS which has the power go through the mounting clip, and paid a car stereo place $50 to wire it in. They ran the wire behind and the center vent so only about a half inch of wire shows when you remove the GPS. With the GPS there nothing shows. Finally when I park in a quetionable area I just pop out the GPS without having to disconnect any wires.

Sorry, have no idea why it came out upside down, the pic was upright when I uploaded it. Let me try to fix it.

Has anyone done integration (say mounting where the ashtray was, tilted up) or stuff like that?

My 330 has no iDrive (thank god) but I'd like a clean nav solution.
You can simply add Velcro to the middle cupholder and the back of a Nuvi.

Put the Nuvi under the armrest then get a low profile power port splitter so you have clearance to shut the armrest while the Nuvi is plugged in. Then get a thin mini-USB extension cable to you can can leave it plugged into the armrest power port and still shut the lid without crushing the quite thick charger cable that comes with some Garmins.

I think the adhesive will come off with some kind of anti adhesive solution or a hair dryer and some elbow grease if you ever want to remove it.
Worst case scenario, leave the velcro on permanently or just buy a replacement cupholder. They are like $40 new.

You can also get a vent clip mount, but leaving the mount attached my attract unwanted attention and it will be a hassle to fumble with attaching and removing the vent clip if you use the GPS everyday and need to remove it several times a day.
The Velcro can be used to mount anything you want, such as cell phone or notepad. It isn't a GPS specific mount.

Hi guys,
I have a TomTom Go520, used a multimedia centre.
I use it as mp3 player, bluetooth handsfree nad of course GPS.
Cables connected are dc power, aux output does goes into the armrest aux-in, and TMC-RDS antenna.
All of my friends told me the position appears to be out of view, however after almost one year, I wouldn't change it, it's easy to reach, to read (no light blinds), and best for bluetooth purpouse, and it's difficult to see from outside.
Cheers Max

I just thought of another way to do this.
I won't bother because seeing the charging cable doesn't bother me since it is all hidden when the GPS isn't being used, but someone else can try my new idea.

For those who are up in arms OCD over seeing wires, even if only while the GPS in use, and need to use the Garmin Nuvi GPS longer than the battery range of about 4 hours, there might be another way to mod it as permanent mount.

Couldn't you get a hole drilled though the face of the cupholder custom cut to fit the shape of a mini-usb port:

and then fish the wire through the inside of the cupholder to the inside of the dash to some power source and then hardwire the power cable to power on and off with the ignition?

If you mount the end of the mini USB cable securely into the hole so it doesn't dangle out loosely, I think many of the Nuvis such as 200 series are light enough that they may be supported/suspended by only plugging them into the mini USB cable that you could protrude out of the face of the cupholder, but you could also add Velcro (or even magnets) for additional support if needed.
You can then pop the Nuvi on and off as needed so it isn't in view of prying eyes when you park.

When you open the cupholder, it brings it within a nice easy reach and at a good view to see the screen.
Someone should try this.

And did you just drill a hole in the fuse to get in to the metal?
I hardwired because I have the wires hidden. I don't like using the cigarette lighter fro anything. The bolt for the ground loop was already there in the fuse box.

wurz154: That's nicer than I expected, but don't forget you have an airbag right behind that. That'd turn that GPS into a projectile. I mean, ideally I'd like to have a GPS and iPod mounted into the steering wheel, but that's not a good idea with an airbag.

Does anyone know of a good solution to mount a GPS, iPod, and radar detector in one, clean looking mount that's easy to remove/conseal when parked? I suppose an iPod touch with nav would be the easiest way to do this.

Hi Carve, I actually had the same question before deciding to put it right there.
However, by looking at the pictures, the airbags are located towards the door, and installed to be deployed downwards.
It shouldn't be that bad, in any case I wouldn't reccomend to try it to see what happens.
I'll put a pic, just to share it.
Ciao
Wurz

It was around €500 delivered, however, it is a Europe only system, but the maps are just on a card and I never tried running different software.

I guess they could easily do one with US maps.
