Three Random Beeps... What are this???

Almost every time I drive my car for ten minutes or longer 3-4 beeps are emitted from what seems to be the lower door/seat area. It is unaccompanied by any warning light and nothing at all happens. I have no clue what it means. I've tried to pay attention to all stimuli and my only hypothesis is that it is a signal to alert you the car has reached a healthy operating temperature for spirited driving. However, on a three hour drive home from Christmas celebrations it happened about an hour and a half into the drive which debunks my first and only theory.

Any and all wisdom greatly appreciated. Hopefully this is a common thing.

I've had my mistress for about two weeks now. It's my first BMW so I'm new to all their wonderful engineering eccentricities.

Merry Christmas to all!!!!

I found this of course but they're seems to be little consensus. Is it indeed an alarm clock of sorts?

Interesting...Did your fix it by setting the "hour" memo?

Switched hour memo to off! We shall see. I should have figured this out but I over think things sometimes. Simplicity is the solution.

The hourly alarm terrified me too when I first got the car. Picked it up in NY at 6pm and started driving back home to GA. Didn't even notice it until it was like 11pm and I was in Maryland. Then heard it again, and again. I was white knuckling it thinking that it was going to break down at 3 am in the middle of nowhere. Wasn't for a few more weeks before I realized it only happened on the hour.

Top of the hour notice. The engineering eccentricity is to remind you to check the radio for traffic/weather, which the German radio stations broadcast at the top of every hour. Seems quaint in this day and age, but when I was doing road trips in my old E34 in Germany, it worked.

From the 2007 E90 iManual:

"Switching on the hour signal*
You will hear three tones just before each full
hour.
Select "Hour memo" and press the controller. The hour signal is activated."
