Bittersweet Upcoming E90 335i Order

I don't have the room for three cars anymore. This means I have to relunctantly let go my E46 M3. I will miss the rawness of that car and being part of the select "M" club. Since I have to let go my toy, I want a daily driver car as close to the E46 M3 as I can. I cannot wait for the E90 M3 (franctly it is too much $$$ for me) Additionaly, I am letting go my E46 330xi because of lack of power and MT.

Some pictures that my CA (who has leased my Ex-M3):

Next to my Ex-M3:

My 2008 E90 335i with the following specs is at the dealership wating for me:

Exterior Color: Silver Grey
Interior Color: Terra
Interior Trim: Piano Black
Transmission: 6MT
Options: Cold Weather, Sport, Premium, Premium Sound, Nav, Electric rear sunshade with manual side rear sunshades.

I tried to get the Anthracite headliner (775), shadowline window trim (760) and M Areodynamic package (715) unsuccessfully.

I have the following mods to the car and will get everything installed soon after delivery:

OEM Alarm
Euro Xenon
Blacklines
E90 M3 lip spoiler
Black vinyl window trim cover
189 rep as a winter setup
VS8 this summer

This is bittersweet because I had to let go my beloved M3 but at the same time I will be getting a very special car.

I am taking delivery 18 March.

Option list sounds great except for "Electric rear sunshade with manual side rear sunshades.". I know some folks have it and they swear to it that it was a waste of money.

Once you tint your windows, you probably don't need the sunshades any more. At least that was my case with my old E55 and C320, both of which have the electric rear sun shade.

With that said, I'm still considering retrofitting that to my car because I'm a modaholic, LOL~

I am in the process of finalizing an order for a 2008 E90 335i with the following specs:

Exterior Color: Classified
Interior Color: Terra
Interior Trim: Aluminium
Transmission: 6MT
Options: Cold Weather, Sport, Premium, Premium Sound, Nav, Electric rear sunshade with manual side rear sunshades.

I tried to get the Anthracite headliner (775), shadowline window trim (760) and M Areodynamic package (715) unsuccessfully.

I plan to make the following mods to the car if and when I am still going through with it:

OEM Alarm
Euro Xenon
Blacklines
Shadowline Window trim

This is bittersweet because I am letting go my beloved M3 but at the same time I will be getting a very special car.

The wait is going to kill me (possibly three months).

Thanks for listening. I had to share this with other carnuts like myself.
Aw man, that really sucks. To be honest I've loved the M3 in your sig for a looong time. If I had the choice to get one I'd have gone with your color as well. Hopefully you like the e90.

I love my rear sunshade AND I have tinted windows. I had a big Lexus SUV behind me stuck in stop and go traffic for a half hour yesterday with his Xenons and fog lights lighting up my cabin like daytime. I put that shade up and it took care of the problem right away.

Silver Grey/Cinnamon are my favorite exterior/interior colors as well and I would be rabidly searching for a used E46 M3 spec'ed like that, but unfortunately those things retain their value so well that it makes more financial sense to get a new 335.

We have a 15 months old and another baby on the way. I cannot bring myself to put the Winnie the Pooh side shades so I am getting the factory ones. I am getting the tint done as well. I wish I could have got the sunshades on the E91 as well but is not an option in Canada. I could retrofit but $$$.

Thanks for the kind word. You can buy my M3 if you want. I would sleep better knowing another member from this board would take care of her.

I never thought of this application but indeed it can help for SUV bright headlights.

It is my favorite combo as well. My salesman was looking at me funny when I ordered the car. Everybody that has seen the car complimented me on the combo. I will miss that car so much. You can buy it if you want...

No PROcede at least until warranty is out. I have a set of paid VS7 that was supposed to go on the M3...

There is nothig like an M3 but with the 335i you get a great all around car with awesome tunig potential. Either way a 335i is the best car in the call IMO so you really are getting the best of the best available just like you did with your e46 M3

The sunshade option has proven so useful in the e90, I'm thinking about a retrofit in my e36...probably an easier retro than yours since all manual.

Sunshades rule. I can not belive how much I use them. I got them for my son who was 2 months old when I got my car and I use them all the time.

We have the rear sunshade in our Mercedes, we also have the windows tinted at 30%. Its nice to put up the rear sunshade when parked, it does make somewhat of a difference, if the rear is facing west. Plus its another little toy to show your friends.

Get some wheels, a drop (HR race springs for the "rough M" feel ), and the chip of your choice.

I have a set of VS7 paid off. I was in the first GB and I was waiting for the upcoming E46 M3 specific fitment. I will eventually do springs/shocks combo with sways at some point in time. As for the chip, I will wait a bit longer.

Mods that will be probably done earlier are Euro Xenon, Blacklines and possibly Shadowline window trim.

I will most likely order the car with the Piano Black interior trim instead of the Alu. It will be a cool ride but I will still miss the M3 dearly.

Is the M3 that bad to use as a daily driver?

It is not bad. Maintenance costs are very pricy though. Tires 4G, brakes 2G, valve adjustment 4G, etc. I can't justify spending this kind of money on a daily driver. I would love too. The M3 is also hard to drive smoothly and can be uncomfortable to non-enthousiasts passengers.

Procede makes one forget the former M3. I had an M3 for 3 years and do not miss it at all. I think you'll be happy with the 335 even without the incredible torque and power added by Procede.
