Brinta, where are you?

OK guys, it finally worked
I used UltraISO instead of MagicISO and everything was ok...
The iso file size after replacing the info15.psc file had the same size as the original iso file. When I check the iso's made with MagicISO, the file size is different...

In the meantime I received the original BMW 08-1 disk as well, it's a shame we need to add the speed cams ourselves...

Thnx!

It did sound like the dvd was having problems starting and resetting and then restarting.
So I'm going to leave the drive until tomorrow and have another go. I just hope the car spits it out...

I've got another torrent copy downloading (seeing over 120k/s d/l with 49 in the swarm...) and I'll try again with that on some generic white top dvd-r I've still got. I'll seed all night and most of tomorrow I've still got loads left on my ISP quoata this month.

Apart from the tesco +r (I assume they are generic white tops) Anyone else got disc recommendations -r/+r and brand?

Coincidently I had my system updated to progman V25 (or whatever the latest is) in Dec. I wonder if the later versions are more fussy?

Regards

Simon
When you try to eject the disc, do it as soon as you get into the car.
Hold the DVD eject button down for a couple of seconds before letting go.

If it still doesn't pop out, then do the idrive reset, by pushing in the volume knob, the DVD eject button & the CD eject button all at the same time.
Discs should eject & the idrive screen should go blank & then re-start.

I can't see any way in which downloading the torrent again will make any difference at all, I'm afraid, Simon.

Sergei did come across a similar problem when he used an old Verbatim DVD+RW disc- the map would zoom in, but the screen would remain blank.
He did the same test again with a different Verbatim DVD+RW disc & it worked fine.

Sergei feels that this is a burning issue. Is it right that you've now used a different drive & a different disc, Simon? Has it failed with a different drive / disc?

There is the possibility that a newer Progman will have affected how 'well' the drive reads certain types of discs, but I have my doubts.

Perhaps you could try using a previous 'modified' disc & see if that still works, following the software update.

Another option would be to have another Sergei 'operative', in your area, provide his/her working disc to you, to see if it works in your car.

All the best.

Viv

This should teach you a lesson, hdrbel- if it matters, don't use bogus software- use 'DE-LUXE'.

As for MagicIso, it's a case of 'You'll like it...not a lot...', I think.

All the best.

Cheers,

Numbnuts.
There have been problems using DVD-R/RW discs in the previous nav disc version, involving the inability to use voice entry of destinations.

For that reason, testing made use of DVD+R/RW discs, without any problem.

There's nothing stopping you trying out a DVD-R/RW disc if you want to, Numbnuts, although I can't see the point, myself.

All the best.

Rolls Royce Navigation System?

If you browse to \tpd\ntcBeu_eu_20070921\ICONS\ on the DVD, you will find a file called "poi_rolls_royce_repair.gif"

Can anyone explain this?

I had an interesting call from James, last Friday lunchtime.

Here's what I remember of our conversation:
(most of this has been heavily dramatised, merely for entertainment value )

Viv: Hello
James: Viv, it's James. That Tesco disc.....pile of utter sh*te
Viv: Hmmm......
James: I should have f***ing listened to you
Viv: Well, I did warn you, James
James: F***s sake. I don't know where I am, I don't know where the speed cams are & I can't get the disc working
Viv: Relax & take a bite of that nice Belgian chocolate you always carry in your glovebox
James: Unbelievable....Fat Tony's been at it already
Viv: What can you see?
James: I'm flying over a bridge....looks like 2 towers....can't tell...going so fast...might be three towers
Viv: Wouldn't be Tower Bridge would it, James?
James: F**k....it's not a 70 zone over this, is it?
Viv: Hmmm...... listen James & listen good...Take that Tesco disc & smash it with a sledgehammer...Carlos will sort one out for you. Go & buy some nice Verbatim, TDK or Sony DVD+R discs & use those instead, ok.
James: Thanks Viv. Got to go...bye.
(Sound of sirens in the background )

Few nav questions

i'm currently downloading 08/01 nav disc with speed camera locations by a certain sergei industries

those familiar with it, can you confirm if full postcode searches are possible? it would be a pain finding an address if all i knew was the postcode

Is the torrent still live or are you using the rapidshare links?

As Carlos says postcode support only for the first 4 or 5 digits, so you need the street as well.

Having been led up the garden path a few times with TomTom and wrong or misleading postcodes I would argue that's not all bad.

A Couple of Nav Questions

Hi,

So, I dutifully installed the 'special' speedcam DVD which was accepted and seems to work fine. Now the idiotic question - what do I need to click exactly to make the icons appear on the map?

Also, when I'm navigating somewhere there is an icon in the top right of the map sort of like a clock. Is there a reason for it?

Thanks
