Valve de-coking

I've read about 40 ways of doing this, sans visiting the dealer (Im not spending $800 for them to use their fancy machine!), but has anyone had any luck with a less evasive method?

I have to do my oil filter standoff gasket soon and will have my intake manifold backed up (but not off), and would like to de-coke my valves before I run JB4 on them (installing a OCC, no more coke!). At 108000km mine don't seem to be coked enough to cause a rough idle, but I would like to blast them as clean as I can, just to be nice to 'er.
