Your config file is not setup correctly or it's missing.

On a default installation, it is located in C:\EDIABAS\Bin\Ediabas.ini

Ediabas.ini in Ediabas/bin must be set to

Ediabas.ini in Ediabas/bin must be set to
STD:OBD if you are using a usb to serial cable.
This should have happened when you ran standard tools
but if you copied another copy of Ediabas over it (as indicated
in some of the newer setups you may have
wiped out this setting. Some of the newer copys are set to ENE instead.) Anyway Open up Ediabas.ini with notepad and change the setting that says most probably ENE and change it to STD:OBD.
On the environment path Ediabas must be set
to C:Ediabas\bin and Ediabas must be on the root c directory for it
to work.
the com port setting in the device manager must match the one
in the program this may have also been wiped out if you copied
a different version of another program after running BMW tools 2.12 .

https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...JF14WkEpVDJJ8A
It in the first few lines of the ediabas.ini configuration file.

Interface =STD:OBD
Simulation = 0

EcuPath =C:\EDIABAS\ECU
SimulationPath =C:\EDIABAS\SIM
TracePath =C:\EDIABAS\TRACE
TraceSize = 1024

Interface must be set to the above not ENE or any of the
other of the 3 possibilitys for Interfaces.

OBD.ini in the Windows directory must be set to the
same port as you use in device manager

[OBD]
Port=Com9
Hardware=USB
RETRY=ON

I use port 9 on mine.

Still not sure what I am missing

I am not sure what I am missing. I did all you said above. I never recreated the ediabas.ini file or copied it from some place. Its the original that formed from the install. The Interface is set to STD:OBD. I am pasting the EDIABAS.ini file here. Please tell me if there is something I am missing

By the way; I noticed I no more have the OBD.ini file in C:\Windows how can I get that there? What creates it? or can you sent it to me ?
