Where is your US E90 made in?

Found this on another (non-BMW) website and was curious -

Audi and BMW are debating this as well. BMW is also sending 3series built in South Africa to the US market due to the EURO problem and tax incentives from SA. The super strong EURO is having a bad impact on the European manufacturing base. Audi is considering building A4s in Mexico.

From what i've heard, only the 325i cars will be manf. in SA and sent to the US. This is rumored to begin in September.

Mine was hand crafted in Munich.

We will again be making only 325i fot the USA

You want a car made in South Africa
We have won the internal BMW quality award for more than 5 years in a row
Australia reported that manufacturing defects were 80% less on SA made cars than Germany supplied cars ( on the E46)

My e46 was made in South Africa. It's the most reliable car I've ever owned.

My e90 is coming from BREMERHAVEN, so I worry that those lazy East Germans in that new Leipzig plant put it together!

Ok, Canada will get the German built ones because the exchange rate between the Canadian dollar and Euro is favourable and BMW would stand to make money.

USA and Hong Kong may get the South African built ones because the exchange rate between the US dollar, HK dollar, and Euro dollar is poor, and BMW would lose money.

And even tho the S.A. plant has slightly better quality, when I buy a German car, I would like it to be made in Germany. When u buy a Bimmer, you're not just buying the brand, you're also buying the location.

On a side note, the 1-series was supposed to arrive this year to rival the Audi A3. That has been delayed because again, the exchange rate between the US dollar and Euro is poor. It's all about economics. Money makes the world go round.

I've owned 2 e46s

First one was built in Munich.

Second one was built in South Africa.

Im still driving the second one (3 years and 60k miles on it so far), and I cant find any difference at all between the cars, in fact, the SA built ones seems to be more reliable. (the munich car had a bit more wiggles and niggles and rattling noises), this one has been awesome so far, X the fingers!

I think the sticker on my car read "5% US/Canadian Parts, 75% Germany Parts... Final Assembly Point MUNICH, Germany, Engine: Germany, Transmission: Germany"

Base on that, I wonder where the other 20% of parts are coming from?

Don't be ridicoulus... Why do you think BMW manufactures their cars there in the first place? They want to make money!

Mine is from South Africa. The plant here is brilliant, and does excellent work. BMW SA knows they need to prove to the world that our cars are just as good, and so that make sure everything is 100%. I have only heard of 1 3series problem in south africa, and it was fixed by BMW SA replacing the car.

Probably all over Asia. Cheap computer chips, on the componets that they created in Germany and Canda. I am sure some parts on the car are made in Asia.
