Detailed my friend's Audi R8 V10 Spyder

My friend recently picked up this Audi R8 V10 when it came up for sale recently. Unfortunately, the previous owners (it's had a few) didn't exactly take care of it. He tossed me the keys, and told me I could have it for a few days and take my time getting it cleaned up. Below is the process, enjoy!

Ready to go!

Swirls, swirls, swirls...

It's a Spyder, so the top needed some love.

Side skirt had popped out. Strange.

Ugh...

Out with the APC to clean it up.

After she was washed, she was pulled in and dried.

Some idiot had actually polished straight through the clear coat and paint. See that white line? That's bare paint. Nice.

And again. Be careful around the edges kids.

Bump 'n grind.

Liquid wax everywhere.

Here we go!

Sharp reflections after polishing it out.

Swirls? No longer.

I had to do this by hand.

Making my way around the car, slowly...

After I wiped the inside of the bonnet with some QD...

And here are all the afters. The Audi was waxed with Swissvax Insignis V1.

That's a wonderful car! Great pictures in a very cool neighborhood! Also, nice garage! Love the flooring you have done.

BTW I was one of the first swissvax proponents on this board but imo, they just passed their prime.

Thanks! It's all Racedeck. Not cheap, but I love the way it looks. If I was to do it again, I would not get white tiles because they get dirty quickly. They are easy to clean, but still... just another thing that needs to be done during the weekend.

I have an entire detailing cabinet full of amazing products. They all service their purpose and they all do their job just fine. I've just learned that over the years, find out what works for you and use that method often. As long as the surface is polished properly, the LSP does little to add to the overall look. I personally have a large investment in Swissvax waxes, and that's merely because I really like using them. Smells great, easy on, easy off. The beading is great, and it lasts a decent amount of time. I have a car that wears Collinite 845, and another that has Menzerna Power Lock. I just got some Sonax Net Shield in from Detailers Domain, and I'm looking forward to trying that.

Oh that's the black R8 I've been seeing around campus here. I guess you do detailing in Austin?
