Emergency wheel needed!

G'Day,

Recent convert from bf.c as there isn't much local content over there and was planning on doing a lovely intro thread but I guess that can wait for now.

Just upgraded from an 09 323i to an 08 335i. Absolutely love it (save a few niggles). Most pressing though, due to some terrible roadworks (I'm assuming) my lovely 19x8 front left black 313 wheel has some cracks (one major, rest incidental) that have opened up and the tyre (one week old Potenza RE050A RFT) isn't holding pressure for more than about a minute. So in a shitty circumstance (inb4 you're a moron don't drive on a cracked rim with a flat tyre) I've driven a couple of times with it in it's current condition after being told by Extensive Wheel Solutions that there's nothing they can do.

I work at a car yard in rAdelaide and have tried calling all the local wreckers to find a wheel that will fit and get me mobile in the short term but basically all I've gotten is "Try calling x because I've got nothing".
I have a set of wheels left over from the old car that I just tried to fit but alas, a 16" wheel won't fit over the brakes... balls.

I've tried looking on Gumtree and eBay and was wondering if you guys had any suggestions as to what I should do in the immediate future to get a wheel on my car so I don't have to be scared to drive it.

Many thanks
Josh

Garage List
I have a set of wheels that would fit, but they don't have any tires on them.

Sorry mate I should have specified, I need a wheel, with tyre. At this stage I wouldn't mind is it was non-RFT. Anything to get me safely motoring on whilst I slowly save up for a new 313 wheel. Thanks for the offer though :-)

have you investigated the posibility of having the crack welded?

Whilst it's certainly not ideal, it could potentially save you in this scenario.

All I can suggest is keep looking on gumtree, something will pop up!

Had a go at getting Extensive Wheel Solutions to fix it. They had a look and said nah it's not practical for us to repair this. Too many cracks, it would cost too much.
I have had some luck though! Bob Jane at Plympton always seem to have BMW wheels out the front and they said they could loan me one for free short term (nice oem wheel and tyre) but if I ruin it I buy the set. The set is only like 500 so that's another possibility for me just to nab the set in the mean time. They look similar to style 79. Have the same tyre as mine the RE050 A as well.

Oh OK bugger!!

Its bloody crazy cars with no spares in such a large open country such as ours!!

That bob jane deal sounds like a goer, the replacement 313 rim is going to be expensive!

So they ended up lending me an 18" spare until I find another wheel / buy a set from them. Quality of the finish isn't incredible so he wouldn't sell me them as a set. At least the car is driveable in the meantime and doesn't look terrible.

Balls, I'm not at enough posts to put up pics I believe. Oh well, not too long. Is it 15 posts on this forum?

It threw an error last time I tried so I assumed it was the same as on bf.c but it could have been a random event. You know what they say about assumptions...

I bought a new wheel ages ago, rim only. When the exchange rate was excellent it cost me a third of the price vs a dealer to get it brand new from the states. Delivered. Used a dealer called, I think, Bloomingtons, I think, in New Jersey. Got a bunch of things. Tyre totes, high quality pressure gauge. Service was excellent. Took about a week using US Parcel Service. Not UPS or Fed Ex, too exxy. If you can wait a week may still be worth looking into this one.

Cheers mate, I never considered that. Could be worth a look. I've been looking on the Turner Motorsport website. I think they have them for a similar price. The only problem is that i would need it in black and would prefer not to spend that much.
Decisions decisions.
