So I am thinking of replacing the aluminium finish looking shift knob on my E90 LCI. Any recommendations on what kind and brand should I buy? Also any specific vendor or place that you guys have bought yours from?

I don't really care about the illumination of the knob itself as the Oem one that I have doesn't illuminate anyway. I don't like the look of the ones that come in the 5 series or 7 series that a lot of people have installed with the fake P button, etc. the entire interior of my car is black/CF trims so any suggestions that would go well with that would be awesome.

Wrap the aluminum section with carbon fiber.

I picked up a Bimmian shift knob - nice aluminum weight, similar to the UUC shift knob but much cheaper. In fact, at $60, its one of the cheapest shoft knobs available. Comes in a variety of finishes. It is a lighted knob but you don't have to install the light if you don't want it.

The best awesome looking shift knob out there is the performance shift knowb with matching shift boot. you can find it on ebay or amazon.

If you want to spend a lot more money (which I wouldn't on a shift knob), you have the DCT style knob. This will require trimming of the shifter though.

Thanks for the suggestion Rohit. I don't want/like the DCT one on the 3 series. Looks too bulky to me. I like the first one though. Added to my wish list on Amazon...

But then isn't this the same kinds as the stock one? At least the stock one that I have is the silver with black trim. Just a larger version of this so i am kind of skeptical. Can you take some pics of it in your car from a distance and send them?
