Wink Secondary Cat Delete: e92 335i Exhaust

Just got back from the Exhaust shop. Had them remove my 2nd Cat and Resonator... for only $80. Exhaust tone is much more pronounced now and my butt dyno definitely feels like it added some horses. Ill be getting her dyno'ed in the next week or so to find out what im putting down after the JBS2, 2nd Cat/Res. Delete, and ITG Filter.

Also, ill try and take some video/sound clips of the exhaust with the cat/res removed. Definitely a mod worth every penny.

Video Clips below!!!

Ill take some more vids and maybe some flybys later today.

Here are a couple of "IN CAR" videos i took really quick today. Ill try and take somemore Fly-bys tomorrow.

Sounds good! That was one of my first mods (I call it the gator exhaust after radgator1), and I loved it.

That's great man. Did you dyno before the change?

I'd love to see what the res/2nd cat delete is worth, in terms of HP

Will any exhaust shop do this mod for you? Or would you need to know someone. Could you revert back to stock easily? What kind of pipes did you put in place? How much weight do you think you removed. Thanks.

Nice mod, looking to do the same. Can anyone answer why would one spend $$$ for cat-back piping or say eissenmann's SR pipes to delete 2ndary cats+resinator if they can just remove it at a muffler shop? SR pipes cost about $1000! Don't like the welds maybe?

That sounds great! But what about reverting it back,, ie for leased cars? Is that a pain in the butt, and will it look like a hack job?

Great mod for only $80......... And really the idea behind a new exhaust is to rid the 2nd cat.// res.

Good call......post up a sound clip. btw....did you do the bb/golf tee mod also? That sounds nice in itself.

I think second cat's deletion has already been dynoed and is worth 4-6whp. You will find info here on the forum.

Have fun .

I just went to a regular Muffler shop down the road. Asked them to remove them and it took about 20minutes and then i was on my way. I wouldnt see why you could revert back to stock easily.

They just replaced them with regular straight piping and i weighed the resonators and they look to be around 7.6lbs, but im not sure on how much weight saved all-together...not too much probably.

Reverting back should not be a problem, i guess it depends on the quality of work and the shop to make sure its no "hack job"

Yeah i did the "Golf tee" mod awhile back. I was never plaining on getting new exhaust, b/c i have other mods i want to do before, but i can definitely say that a JBS2, ITG filter, 2nd cat/res delete, and "Golf Tee" mod all make for a Very Very nice sounding "stock" exhaust.

^ I am curious to see your car on the dyno. Don't forget the upcoming new "hot pill" for the JB2, should be worth 13whp but you have to use 93 octane or DP's.

Yeah i am definitely buying the "hot pill" when Terry gets done testing it and releases it. Cant wait!! Luckily we have 93 octane where i live, so that should be good.

Hey Terry, Thanks for the Props I think I was the first to get it done but you already had your appt, I just got to the shop first. 80 bucks is hella cheap though so the OP got the best deal I've heard.

Did you take any pics AU335?

It definitely adds a little power, around 5-8 HP I think Terry measured, but I can't remember if that includes your cutouts which should help quite a bit.

It makes your car lounder also but not too obnoxious. Mine seems like it has been getting louder lately so I don't know if I have blown out the deadening material in the stock cans or if I got a leak in one of the 20 or so welds they did at the shop

Thanks for the feedback. Seems like a cost effective mod. I was thinking that some muffler shops are reluctant to touch the emission systems. In the picture you showed below, you only have the cats, but no resonators?

Does anyone know for sure what the horsepower gains are for the secondary cat/resonator delete? It definitely made a difference in my car..

so its as simple as that..? remove the 2nd cat and resonator.. are the 2 pieces linked to each other? What do you replace them with?

Does it throw CEL light, or any lights?

How much whp do you think it adds?

Removal of the secondary cat and the resonators does not throw a service engine soon light or anything of the matter. The removal of the primary cat will cause SES light (getting catless downpipes).

The JBS2 pill is going to be well worth your money when it comes out. It will be another inexpensive, cost effective, safe HP gain that we have seen Terry distribute with the JB performance tuner.

I believe if you have the pill with stage 2, the new combination will be called JB2H and the H stands for HOT.

It is for 93 octane and/or a car with aftermarket downpipes.

I will be getting the pill this week for testing and will report back when I install Friday evening.

I'm confused because the e92 doesn't have a resonator. Do you mean that you eliminated the stock e92 X pipe? I know the e90s have resonators.
