To those whom which this applies

I want to first clarify, this is directed, as the title reads, to those of you that are guilty of what I'm going to say.

I am fairly new to this whole forum thing to begin with, I wouldn't necessarily consider myself a "newbie" but limited time spent would be fairly accurate. But what I continue to see, is those of you in the afore mentioned title, is a bunch of haters that appear they feel to have some sort of entitlement over those of us less experienced, or short on the knowledge you may have obtained..... Probably from this site. Time after time, I see someone new to the BMW world in general, ask a question only to be answered by some lifer on here, as if they are an idiot..... myself included. I can't for the life of me figure out why someone, who obviously shares the same interest as you, would do this. Does it make you feel good about yourself to hide behind your computer and crunch on people with less knowledge than you? I was under the impression that this site was for ALL BMW enthusiasts. I didn't realize you had to know (or so you think) everything or you would be attacked by haters for asking a question. I realize there are exceptions, but for the most part, It's usually totally un called for. And the irony of it all, most of them can't even spell their way out of a paper sack..... and those of us who have been victim of this should feel inferior to you? At least in my case, you are sorely mistaken.

On a positive note, there are a lot of helpful people on here as well...... Thank you to those of you that are. I have learned a wealth of knowledge from this site, and not only has it been free, but the amount of money I've saved by learning to work on my own car, is priceless.

So, for those of you arrogant experts out there that live behind your computer, hating and bashing the less experienced...... Why don't you all go join a forum that has to do with something you know little to nothing about, and see how well you fare, because god forbid you might need to ask a question to learn something new to you. I'd recommend Grammar 101 for most of you.

My closing thought, like your mommy's told you..... If you don't have anything nice to say SHUT THE HELL UP!

A perfect example

I hope I'm not breaking the rules by using a quote from a different thread....
But it took me all of about 5 mins to find an example. The thread is titled "What do you do when you see a cop?"

I've been on here for about 7 years now and I still see that There are a ton of haters here that have no life and all they do is post pics of other ppls cars for the sole purpose of making fun of it. I equate those to the people to post random selfies for the sole purpose of attracting attention to themselves and boost self confidence. I do feel sorry for some of those people but they are the reason BMW owners have a reputation of being douchebags...and they are mostly right

Well said. As a newbie here, I'd much rather search for days or learn the hard way, then ask a simple question on here and be flamed for doing it.

I've learned enough that if you have a question, hit me up.
If I can't answer it, I can steer you in the right direction.

I agree with you, but it's just forums in general.
I'm new to this forum but have been involved in the car scene since I was 16 and to be completely honest with you I find it a lot friendlier to newcomers than a lot of the VW forums I'm a member on.
There's always someone who's going to be a bit of an arsehole because they have some sort of weird sense of entitlement but it's simply because putting people down somehow makes them feel better about their own failings in life.
Personally, I'd rather help people out to the best of my abilities and leave trying to start fights with random people I don't know to 15 year olds playing COD.

The best way to deal with these people is to just ignore them.

In before the D bags wake up and rebel against OP lol

Totally get what your saying but sometimes when somebody keeps posting every single question they have in the general forum section for months it does it hard to take the poster seriously after countless replies of members telling them to move thread then mods moving it anyways. Oh yeah and SEARCH!

This is great. I hate when people ask a question and you have that one person that just says, "have you heard of searching!?!?" Just answer it or leave it alone. Every time I see this I see that one person as this guy

I actually find this forum quite friendly compared to others.
I was amazed at how much hating/trolling happens over at my roommate's mazdaspeed forum and Facebook page.

However, the biggest hater and the most immature adult i've had to deal with is on this forum..

In a peaceful way, I'm going to have to disagree with you. If buy me expressing this, someone would consider it as credibility, that drives my point even deeper. Anyone that would feel good for this is indeed a total idiot. I'm just letting them know that because we may not have the knowledge of bmw's, we aren't stupid and move on if you can't stand what you're reading or be helpful. But everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Well said. And we don't tolerate disrespectful, insulting or derogatory behavior here, so if anyone ever comes across it on BIMMERPOST, please use the report post function. We'll review it and hand out infractions and/or bans if necessary.

LOL I know and trust me, he would never do something like that in real life. You have to remember that is being said from the comfort and anonymity the Internet provides.

As others have said, this forum is one of the more friendly ones. Some gun owner forums are bad, and some are very good. It usually depends on the general mindset of your more active posters. And a healthy dose of moderator control can make a huge difference.

A lot of us on this site have a good sense of humor and we like to razz each other, but sometimes it is hard to interpret text and take it in the right spirit.
