We don't need "opinions", we need Blackstone Lab reports.

BMW 5w30 is fairly cheap, especially with a CCA discount...I would just stick with the factory stuff since it's inexpensive, and the oil has been taken into consideration with the engine.

However, I am interested in the oil report. Let the data tell us. I'm sub'd

Ive been using valvoline synpower. At 208k it does the job. Like 22bucks a 5qt jug at walmart. Makes it affordable to change every 5k.

I just bought 8 quarts of BMW OE oil for 6.52 each and OE filter for $10.40. on line and picked it locally (i.e. no shipping). I've never used anything but BMW oil and filters, I'm at 253,000 miles and follow the CBS OCI.

This. It still shocks me how many people don't take advantage of what the cca has to offer.

M1 0w40 is even cheaper by the 5 qt jug at walmart (like $25). It is the only thing I buy there, I'm not really a fan of their heavy handed tactics of buying their store products from suppliers at such slim margins, and running local stores out of business, but I don't feel so bad about them buying product from a big faceless oil company cheaply
