VIP Tuning intake installed!

Just got back from the shop. All I can say is wow! The turbo spool sounds wicked. I was actually lucky enough to get a piece of history - the actual intake off of VIP Tuning's low 11 second car. The car ran an 11.9 because he had to back off the gas so they would let him run there again. They warned him when he ran low 11's.

Anyways, this thread is not about that. I have some more news on the intake for you guys. I felt an immediate butt dyno boost with this intake. I would say MORE than what my exhaust gave me and I'll guesstimate in the 10-15 whp range right off the bat. We have to load my ECU from scratch so it can adapt from scratch to the new air flow. Right now, my intake is practically covered by the lower grilles, restricting airflow. We are going to cut that piece out on Saturday.

For this unit, because it is still a 'prototype' with patent pending, we had to remove the diverter valve hose and just let the valve blow off into the atmosphere. Sounds like I have a less aggressive BOV in my car now. Throttle response is much better with this intake than with the stock box.

Jacque showed me a dyno where he made 10 whp right off the bat with the intake. Pending ECU adaptation, etc. I think we can make around a 13 whp delta with this unit.

I just got a PM from a mod and I cannot post pricing up because it is considered a 'commercial' topic and he is not a sponsor here, although he will be shortly.

Installation requires you to take the driver side wheel off and to open access to the brake duct. That is it. It took Jacque 30 minutes to install and that was taking his time. All the parts have been ordered and are coming in.

The intake is set to be released to the public for purchase in a few weeks, most likely right before Christmas. Thus far, the unit is flawless and performs like no other (I am talking about other test cars).

I'll go in the garage right now and snap some pics for you guys.

VIP Tuning is soon to be a sponsor on here so he can come on and explain more to you guys. He will also offer the intake to the forum right at release date.

Just re-reading this post makes me want to go drive now with the VIP Tuning cold air intake.

Nice. You want to dyno Saturday at USP and see where we are at?

there are certain speeds where they start getting very strict about equipment. my friend in '54 chevy ran low 8's and they told him he needed a parachute (<<--WTF), and roll cage.

anybody that was there that night saw the corolla that ran 7s, roll cage, wheelie bar, and of course, a parachute.

edit: oh, BTW:

Can't wait to see pics and results of that intake! Sounds cool. Vending the valve to atmosphere shouldn't be an issue.

On the track times, I believe you can go 11.49 before a cage/jacket now 'n days. It used to be 11.99 a few years ago. Anyway based on his 1/8th mile time of ~7.6 it looks to me like he was giving it all he had the entire run.

1 minute to go.. and a few questions

Luckily I caught the price before you had to take it down. You mentioned having to cut away something before.. Is the production unit going to move it so we dont have to cut anything, or will we still be cutting something. Not that its a big deal, just curious.
