I’ve had this issue for a while now and I want to resort to you guys before i go and pay $150 for someone that might not be able to fix it.

My key works. Turns on ignition but it does NOT unlock/lock doors and the trunk. AM radio does not work either.

I don’t have the comfort access key. But regardless i’ve replaced my batteries 3 times all with the proper voltage to be able to unlock and lock the car. No avail.

I’ve checked all the possible fuses regarding the lock and unlock features. All the fuses regarding the CAS and diversity antenna. All good. None blown.

I’ve tugged the wires in the trunk right passenger boot, all attached. Taken off the diversity antenna inside the rear windshield of the car, all pins have necessary power.

I don’t know what else to test for or if to replace my diversity antenna module. There’s a red ribbon with black lines running through it in the rear windshield I’m not sure if this is the rear windshield defroster cable or if it’s somehow connected to the radio signals for the key fob to work.

I don’t know what else to test other than to replace the diversity antenna module. I don’t know if I have to reprogram it which i don’t know how to do, or if I have to replace my whole windshield for the red ribbon. I don’t know if a locksmith is going to be able to fix this with a simple key copy. Does anyone have any idea what I can do to fix it?

I have pictures of everything. I just need help it’s driving me crazy.

I’m currently in Florida on vacation and rented a G20 330i. I just wanted to share my impressions of it.
For me, the exterior design is a 10/10. I really like the way it looks. It’s definitely faster than my E90 330i, and I especially like how it performs when it’s already moving. For example, when cruising at around 30 mph and suddenly pressing the gas pedal, I like its responsiveness and the sound of the turbo.
However, at very low speeds or when accelerating from a standstill, I actually prefer my E90. I don’t feel this car has the same character that the naturally aspirated inline-six in the E90 has. The exhaust sound is also much better on the E90 IMO.
As for the interior, I don’t find it particularly engaging — it’s dominated by a large screen, with very few physical buttons, and almost everything is controlled through the infotainment system. I don’t know what other brands offer these days, but I see Hyundais and Toyotas with large screens as well. The E90’s interior is gorgeous compared to cars of that era.
I also miss the leather smell that older BMWs seemed to have. This might be Sensatec.
Overall, though, it’s a great car. I would definitely love to own one someday, alongside my E90.

What do you guys think?

On my GM6 AT, it does a weird thing where it shifts into the manual/sport mode when I start up and flip the lever to the left, but within five minutes it basically reverts to just D drive mode and the option disappears.

I know the wiring is a weak point, but it just doesn't seem like that. It's very specific and predictable, not random like you would expect from a cracked wire. Basically every time it works for five minutes on start up, and then it doesn't. That's as long as it takes for the trans fluid to warm up to operating temp as well, which is my hunch that it's not wiring. There's also a small little bit of time that it transitions from SD to D and you can feel it lurching as it changes shift patters.

FWIW I just changed the fluid out and added a new filter a couple weeks ago. I set the fluid level when warmed up and after going through gears. It miiiight be a smidge over-filled, but I wouldn't imagine by much.

Thoughts, suggestions, condolences?

I can’t get a thread gauge in there to check.

335i transmission dilemma - 6HP, DCT or 6MT?

I know there's a ton of threads on this already, but my situation's a bit different so figured I'd make my own.

I've got a Golf 5 GTI with the DSG right now and I'm planning on picking up a 335i next, leaning N54 but N55 is on the table too, I like both. Not in a rush though, next summer is the timeline so I've got time to wait for the right car.

The transmission thing is what's been bugging me. I keep seeing 6HP cars pop up and half the people say it's a slushbox :( , the other half say it's actually great once you throw an XHP tune on it.
My main concern is coming from the DSG which shifts fast and makes some nice noises doing it, and then getting into a 6HP and having the car feel completely dead. Would it actually feel like a downgrade?

6MT is also something I've been looking at. I do have manual experience so I know it's more fun. My brother helps out a lot since he wrenches in his spare time and owns an M4 F82 manual, drove it once and honestly it was sick. So the idea of a manual 335i isn't scary to me at all.

I've also got a full garage setup with a post lift so maintenance and repairs aren't really a concern either way.

The DCT is obviously the safe bet coming from a DSG but it's more money upfront, though the 7th gear is a nice bonus for highway fuel economy.

So basically, is the 6HP even worth considering or would it kill the vibe too much compared to what I'm used to?

Hi :)

Does anyone know the best way to identify a rear end leak. It’s an 06 325i with about 195000 miles on the axles. Unknown when last differential service was. I have noticed a leak on the ground, and was initially assuming it was from my oil pan. But have now realized it is from the rear end. I am concerned that it may have been leaking like that for a while. It is just drips but I was definitely confused why my oil was still reading full. About a month or so ago my left rear cv axle came unbolted. There was minor damage to the other casing of the differential. I am now worrying that the axle has finally maybe taken a poop?? I have also noticed while driving a bit of shakiness, but I did just replace a wheel due to a flat. I also started to hear this weird noise just yesterday that sounds almost like a spoon dropping on the ground. Like a weird metal tink. Probably unrelated due to all the other issues on this car :(. Kinda at a lost so hoping this will be easy to diagnose. If it is leaking differential fluid, am I able to refil for the mean time? Or not a great idea. Thanks.

Hey all, was just wondering if any of you have had this specific set of symptoms.
2011 335d
158k miles
The steering wheel will wobble around .5 inches left and right gently at speeds between 40-65 intermittently, sometimes accompanied by strong vibrations in the cabin. It will do this for 3-4 seconds, get better for 3-4 seconds, then do it again. Some days it doesn’t do it at all.

Tires only have 7k on them.
Alignment and balance was done at 150k, and again at 157k, wheels not bent, not bad out of alignment or balance. This is from a reputable shop.

My first thought is that it’s control arm bushings doing goofy things, drivers side has some checking, and looks like it leaked out a while ago. Passenger has some very light checking but no signs of leakage, which leads me to believe neither has been changed. Sway bar bushings also have checking.
I’m planning on replacing all those bushings regardless.

I got a look at the flex disk and driveshaft bearings, all the rubber actually looks excellent on them and I’m not getting any “thunk” noises.

Thoughts? This did not suddenly come on, I thought it may have been a flat spot in a tire, but the alignment shop confirmed the wheels were very much still in round.

Hello, I am having issues with consistently locking and unlocking my bmw with the key fob, I mainly have to use the manual lock which is very annoying to me. I’ve checked all fuses, and I’ve replaced the battery, what do you guys reccomend I do next? Thanks.

Guys I have a E90 320i MT (2008 pre LCI) with cruise control. After a swap to n52 (from a 525i) my cruise control ain't working no more. I understand there's a difference between n46 and n52's cc stalk. Is that the main problem or is it something to do with the LDM module?

Any help is welcomed!
