It is usually slightly cheaper in terms of $ to get the OEM Mtech kit part.
(Expensive CF components of the Mtech kit must be crossed checked prices among the 3 shops namely Valiant, BMWHK and Detschland.)
In terms of labour work fitment accuracy and paint work, it is always subject to workmanship and service quality which are subject to individual's expectation and trust. Aftermarket installation done by BMWHK is subject to warranty. e.g. lossy parts, color change.
Frankly speaking, if the installation were being done properly and the paint match is 95%+, I say there is no difference in terms of outlook who do it for you. (neither we among have compared the works at any macro level)
How do we know a outside shop do 100% customer satisfaction service? For example, when paint is mismatch, will they fix it for you before they hand your car back to you? Or when you have found paint is mismatch when you have received your car, do you think the shop will redo for you without giving you a hard time, show you bad manner or to force you to accept it? It is all about service quality. e.g. A bowl of sugar water sitting in the dark street corner in Tsuenwan, has ZERO SERVICE QUALITY. All you are interested is the bowl of sugar water.
Define your service expectation, talk to an outside shop, discuss with them all these 'what if's, 'and then what's. Do they agree to sign a satsifaction assurance contract? Frankly, how many ppl going for an outside shop paying less will talk with them a service quality contract. No. They won't. Neither you would. Because the first minute you walk into their door, all you are looking for is a cheap deal - you have basically forgotten about sevice quality which is really what you 'expect' but end up being that is what you 'hope' it is so.
Thus, there is nothing wrong with a shop outside, the wrong things are always inside ourselves. Ask once, are you prepared to handle garage people directly? Do you also know how many microns layers of paint they will do? I had once had BMWHK checked a piece of paint done outside, they used a device to measure it; and the new paint respray was found very thin. The labour morale is very low in this time of the year, it is the service to manage the labour, not the labour to manage the service.
