I-Drive Firmware Updates

I’ve got an early 2010 320d with the professional nav and started looking into updating the satnav. Seems it’s too new to do it via DVD, yet a few months too old to do it via USB.
From what I can work out, I need to have the firmware updated in order to then be able to update the satnav software via USB. I don’t have the “I” in the tick on my nav screen.
Does anyone know where I might be able to have this done, ideally as close to Basingstoke as possible?

"Seems"? - so have you tried?

I ask because my early 2010 330i (build date Feb 2010, pro nav) updated itself fine via the glovebox USB port, even though it doesn't have the I in the UI.

I have now tried and it's uploaded the 2019 maps with no issues, thanks in no small part to the good folk on here. Happy days.

Just to jump in on this, are the maps freely available out there? My OH about to buy a 2012 with the SatNav and iDrive etc and it'll need updating. I had iDrive in my z4 back in 2010 but I've slept since then...

I found all the info I needed to download and update the software on here. I’m no IT geek but I managed it. It is a little bit of a faf, but follow the instructions and it’s quite simple.

Do you have the web link that download the maps please?

Sorry to drag this from the vaults:lol:

You mentioned you don't have the "I" and tick on your screen, but eventually you managed to install a newer map. So, did you use DVD or USB method? May have missed some detail.....

Thanks

So I wrote this in the early days of BMW ownership. Turns out that I did have the “I”. I had just clicked the iDrive wheel on the map screen, which had clicked it off. Clicking the wheel again re-activated it. I then followed the instructions on here somewhere to update the maps via USB.
