2008 E92 335i Starting Issue

Hey Guys,

Just wondering if anyone has experienced this before. This has happened to me twice since I have had the vehicle.

I put the key into the ignition and press Start. After pressing start an awful grinding/metallic noise happens and the car doesn't turn over. I am almost positive it's the starter. Not sure if this makes any sense, but I am also guessing it has something to do with the fuel level /fuel pump. The first time this happened is when I parked the car with low fuel got up in the morning for work and tried to fire it up, didn't start for about 5 mins then I gave it one more try and boom, it started. The second time was last weekend up at a cottage where my car was parked on a slight decline (engine first) for 3 days. Went to fire it up and got the same noise. Tried it a second time and it made the noise but finally fired up.

Any thoughts?
