Same speeds. One is just travelling much farther than he needs to.
Yep; agreed -- the line will make a big difference. Also, it is very possible the faster person is not running the same gears. The faster person might not need to shift as often and may spend more time in a higher gear at a lower rpm.

Just a friendly analysis for fun. I certainly do agree there is a big correlation between average RPM and lap times, but I think the differences are big enough to make lap times unreliable for predicting overheating.
