Adaptive Headlight. To buy or not to buy, to fix or not to fix

I've had many BMW's. I always felt like my car was the only car imported from the UK and took part that were different from all the other BMW's.
Well, here it is again.

The driver side headlight in my 2006 E90 is all rusted inside, components short circuited (I lost the trim cover in the wheelwell and all the water has been splashing inside the headlight.

Like with other BMW's I have owned I cannot find an adaptive headlight the is a match. So what are the options:

1- Go to the dealer and hand over the $1400 for a new headlight... yikes??

2- buy two after market headlights and do away with the adjustable headlight feature (I just need a low beam and a high beam, right)? what other complications can I expect? Coding? not working? not as cool?

3- many people selling cracked broken headlights "for parts". Is it possible to rebuild the headlight from parts from other headlights?
I need the driver's side, Can I rebuild mine from a passenger side?
I think from my headlight the housing is good, the ballast is good. The motors inside are rusted and the SRM does not look good.

4 what other options are there?

Thank you for your opinion/thoughts/insults/whatever...
