I got one side and haven't since touched them, just too busy, but will update once the other side is in. I guess you just have to push harder, it's a little bit scary but then it clicks in and stays. No idea how one could do this with the headlights still on the car....
Also it is indeed difficult to fit the harness inside, but it fits and the lid does shut. I'll post a pic later of how I fit it. If anyone reading this is struggling, just walk away from it for a few and try again, it is possible.
