Its not horribly challenging. I definitely recommend picking up the fuse taps. That helps tremendously.
You DO need to drill a hole at the bottom of the ashtray to guide the phonecord through for the concealed display. I drilled it while it was still in the car because I didnt want to remove the whole shifter and boot. Just lay a blanket or towel over the console area to catch the shavings.
