Twin-turbo or Bi-Turbo implies to turbo's of the same size operating at the same time. This designation applies to the 335i. Turbo lag is reduced because the 2 turbos are smaller than an equivalent single unit.

The 335d has two differently sized turbos, which operate sequentially. Turbo lag is reduced because the smaller unit spools up earlier reducing the step in power output when the larger one cuts in.

EVO recently got this wrong in their comparison between the 335i and VXR8, wrongly stating that the 335i had a sequential arrangement.
