I totally agree, my figures are about the same as yours Steve.

Also, do the maths and work out the cost differences between driving it hard and getting 31mpg and driving it like Miss Daisy and getting 35mpg, I do less miles these days, down from around 40k to maybe 25k and 25k a year just doesn't save me all that much money by trying to be economical. Don't get me wrong I am not talking about hammering it everywhere, just driving without trying to save fuel all the time.


£85 week at 35mpg
£96 week at 31mpg

My car is loosing £120 a week, insurance is £25 a week, servicing around another £10 a week and tyres about the same.
If I am loosing that much I am not going to get stressed over trying to save £5-10 a week on fuel.
