That's a bit of a shit about the VCG, are you sure it's that? After having my VCG replaced I thought it was still leaking as there was oil around the side of the engine towards the back below the heat shield. I'd felt around after the VCG replacement just to check it wasn't leaking & my fingers came away with oil on them.
I took it back to the indie that had done the work, they had a good look stripped it down a bit & took the under trays off to find it is the sump gasket leaking, the whole underside & up the drivers side of the engine to just below the heat shield is oily.
